| Competition (and the pits)
Attended the Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) sponsored by the CMP at Camp Perry Saturday - didn't make the National Match on Sunday. AR15 with iron sights and sling at 200 yards, 10 shots each: slow fire prone, slow fire standing, rapid fire sitting. First and foremost is a big thanks to any instructors and volunteers that were there. Even with the limited training time and shots fired, I learned a lot, feel more confident, and more inspired. Great job to everyone involved.
My 'training' has been limited to what I can find online. Very helpful having someone right there to correct issues you aren't aware of. Will continue to get live training as funds and time are available. Until I joined a Sportsman's Club, no practice with any rifle and pistol practice was limited due to high LGS range rates and rules. I never would have thought about shooting a 200 yd target without optics although the targets at SAFS are very big. I'm really stoked on rifle shooting after this experience.
The pits are something I was not expecting at all. Are these typically found only at military facilities and for military training? Really felt it the next day. Guess I need to add calisthenics to my daily routine.
