Ruger 1911 Awesome Gun

You know from my "got the call" thread I picked up my new Ruger SR1911 yesterday. Went to a buddy's house who know's 1911's (he's a Kimber snob) who has won a few state and area Single Stack championships over the years.

We disassembled the SR1911 cleaned and lubed all the parts. Made me feel good that he said it is a very well made gun. Good fit on all the parts . After reassembly we checked the trigger pull right at 4.25lbs. with a nice crisp feel.

He has a range set up in his back yard , Loaded up with my reloads , Berry's 230gr RN with 5.1gr Herco @ around 790 to 800 fps. We shot 6in steel plates at 21ft , 30ft and 40ft with very few misses. My wife even shot it, hit 7 out of 8 plates. I would rate the recoil on the low side. 200 rounds and forgot to shoot any paper. We used both mags that came with the gun and also used a Wilson Combat and a Chip McCormick mag all worked very well.

This morn on the way to work I stopped by and shot 20 rounds ,4 targets 5 shots per smallest group 3.5in at 21ft (the gun is more accurate than I am) I hope to close that in the more I shoot it . I plan on shooting this gun ia a single stack class in USPSA.

Good shooting , Good feel right out of the box . Glad I waited and didn't settle on a just another 1911.

Stock up/reload more rounds. You are going to want to shoot it more.

Congratulations.

Congrats. The SR1911 IS a very comfortable 1911 to shoot, compared to others i've tried. No sharp edges to bite you and it handles recoil very well. It's simple, rugged, reliable and solid - the way a 1911 should be. Love mine.

Thumbs up

Congratulations! The SR1911 is a very special gun. The beauty and craftsmanship are superb.

I got mine on July 17 and it is the finest gun in my collection. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am enjoying mine.

Yesterday, I lucked into a used Sig Sauer 1911 hard case for $10 in my local gun shop. The SR1911 and extra magazine fit perfectly into the foam cutouts. The foam is the closed cell foam that does not hold moisture. Using my computer, I printed a Ruger wallpaper picture, trimmed it, and attached it over the embossed Sig Sauer on the side of the case with packaging tape. By covering the whole print with the packaging tape, the paper is protected and looks great.
