Question new ruger test shoot day

This past weekend I went out with some friends and two of us have purchased new rugers. I brought my American Rimfire and my friend brought a mini 14 he just got. weather was perfect with a slight breeze and some clouds. The American performed flawlessly with zero misfires or problems, getting very tight groupings from about 35 yards using iron sights & Remington golden bullets. The Mini 14 on the other hand was having issues with the safety. the trigger group would come loose from the two clips holding it in and would lock the safety, and the trigger would not move. the entire trigger group would have to be removed to fix it. other than that it performed well with American Eagle .223. Any thoughts on the cause of this issue for the Mini 14?

The trigger group is coming loose? That is odd. When they seat and lock in it is usually solid. Are you sure the owner had it assembled correctly and fully seated?

I guess they don't make M-14 like they use to.Now when I was in boot camp and at the rifle range the saying was the M-14 was so reliable .You could pick it up out a river's water, after twenty years, stick a magazine in it and fire away. lol
