Point Shooting With The iTarget Laser System

I've now had the iTarget laser shooting system for about 3 weeks and must say I've had a great deal of enjoyment with both target shooting and dryfire drawing exercises.

While the actual drawing application (which will have an integral timer) and silhouette target insert are not available from the manufacturer yet, I made up my own target insert as shown below. I set the 8.5 x 11 target at the height that would cover from the bottom of the ribs to the neck on a 6' man. The target below is the result 25 single shots off of the draw with my CZ 2075 RAMI at approximately 6-7 yards (some distance variance as several draws were from angles and on the move). All shots were fired using point shooting technique.

While my goal is to keep all shots within the inner target, I had 4 flyers that were still at least "in the neighborhood" . Anyway, the big winner over the past three weeks has been my wallet and ammo supply as I have cut my live fire range time by roughly 50% .

bwinters ... With respect iTarget is not a "laser sighting system", it utilizes a laser cartridge and the iPhone camera. The laser is only visible when you pull the trigger (firing pin hits the switch on the laser cartridge) with the laser hit being recorded by the iPhone camera. It is indeed point shooting as I used no sights (laser or otherwise) off the draw. If you would like to understand the system better check out their website or my initial range report

Really neat, both the range report and this update. Looks like some good fun!

Neon ... I had looked at several laser systems in recent years primarily for use in improving my self defense training / drawing skills both stationary and on the move. For me this simple and inexpensive system was the best fit, Plus, as you point out it is indeed "good fun"

I got one of these for Christmas. Unfortunately, we then left town to visit our daughter. Just had time to get it set up and shot one target yesterday. Somehow, I managed not to save the target, but it was a ton of fun.

I was using my Sig P250sc.

I plan on trying it out again later today.

Good going, wish that was my target. Is there anything simpler or quicker than looking where you want the lead to go and firing? Or more reliable, don't need enough light to see the sights, don't need no batteries, don't need nuthin' but a reason.

People should train more often with Point and Shoot Skills. I do it all the time with a assortment of BB and Pellet guns. Also 22. at the range. Thanks for posting, looks like a nice system.

BuckJM53 , just wanted to see how you feel about the system in general after using it awhile seems like a good way to train.

While some don't like the idea, I believe it to be a very beneficial skill

Mike ... I still find it very beneficial. As a complement to my weekly live fire time at the range, I generally use it a couple of times each week for a combination of target and point shooting exercises.
