I finally got all the parts and pieces to finish the Charger Mare's Leg. I also took the scope off the Henry because the Charger is now scoped. The Henry has a receiver mounted peep which more than doubles the sight distance.

Very interesting, I like the look. Just wondering, whats the point of having a little bit of stock passed the actual gripping area?

The Charger Mare's Leg doesn't have a shoulder stock and can be fired one-handed which makes it a pistol but that little nub is enough to give you a good check weld. I wanted it to look like a Mare's Leg and not a flintlock pistol.

I watched a segment of that old TV show recently (dvd). The two times Steve McQueen drew or fired his Mares Leg, he went into a crouching position with the gun pressed against his Hip, just above the holster, with his right forearm putting pressure on the stubby stock while his hand was in the trigger/lever area.
Sounds more complex than it looked on the screen.

I have wanted one and will probably buy one. I have heard rumours of the state police in Nj haslling gun owners shooting similar guns by making them prove it is not a short barreled rifle which is illegal in NJ. By prove I mean they expect you to have proof with you at all times that it is a pistol. Have any of my NJ gun owning bretheren experienced this?

Sounds more complex than it looked on the screen. | Most often he doesn't even draw the gun. He was always getting beat up but getting the girl. He would fire the gun like you said but he would also fire it aimed like a rifle.

Then you show them how it can be fired one-handed. But the real prove is how they are registered. On the Charger it is marked Charger which shows its a pistol. The Henry is marked ML before the serial number, the Rossi is marded RH which means its a Ranch Hand and is manufacured as a pistol.
What would happen if they arrested you? I think the same thing would happen if they arrested you for having a 22/45. They are both pistols and clearly legal. My guess is they might just want to hassle you.

I love the way your charger project turned out. You’ve made it look exactly like a sawed off rifle out of an old Bonnie & Clyde era movie. Even the scope fits in well with the overall image. Well done.

I love the Charger! Something totally new and the Charger is an easy way to make it legal.

Really gives it a unique look! I Likee. The other ones are nice too but the Charger just has a look that I can't put my finger on? Almost gangstery? I know that's not a word.... It's sharp!

When I told people I was going to do it most thought I was crazy. But now that its done and they can see pictures most seem to like it.

Hey 303...
Almost didn't notice the updated picture... looking good...
The WGRS with the 1" o.d. peep likes like it was custom made for that gun...!
I have my 10/22 set up now such that with the scope I can easily hold a very good aim one-handed with rifle fully shouldered... 16" barrel and 32" overall so nobody can complain...!
If knew two months ago what I know now I would have spent the extra money to get the TacSol SBX barrel for mine...at the time I was choking on the price...
So I am considering that barrel for the future and would like to know what kind of groups one can get from a charger at 100 yards...bench rest with that 2-7x28 scope specifically... IF anyone around here knows...
