I would like to paint my Savage 10FP stock to OD green. I tried this once on another Savage and the plastic primer I used did not hold, it chipped in a number of places.
Would a self-etching prmer maybe do a better job, is there something I can do to prepare the surface better? I cleaned it with thinnner last time and let it dry thoroughly.
I looked at a friends Bell and Carlson stock on his 10FP and I wasn't overwhelmed with the finish on that stock, I figure I can do better. Besides, the rifle already shoots a 3/4 inch group at 100 yards, so I doubt another stock will make a lot of difference.
