SP101 Trigger Stop

I just finished adding a trigger stop to my SP101. This was inspired by Grant Cunningham's very good Book of the Revolver. It was a fairly straightforward project, and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Disclaimer: If you choose to use any of this information on your own, you do so at your own risk, to yourself and your firearm. Always wear proper PPE; safety glasses are a must when working with taps. I'm very glad I was wearing mine when I snapped a tap in two.

I used a stainless 6-32 thread bolt with a sanded down head and a rounded off tip. This was done by wrapping the middle section in tape, chucking it up in my cordless drill, and running both ends against sand paper on my workbench until I achieved the desired shape.

I drilled and tapped the trigger frame through the solid area beneath the trigger linkage. I used a hand drill running on a very low speed with lots of pressure and oil. I broke one tap after drilling with a number 36 drill bit, so I drilled it out to 7/64 to make tapping a little easier.

I had to file down a bit of my grip under the frame to allow some space for the head of the screw. I put loctite on the threads once I had it adjusted so that the single action trigger pull would just barely break.

Now I just need to find time to get to the range to see if this is going to improve my groups.
