10/22 New Build

I'm new to the forum, but have been lurking for over a year and should start this off by thanking the members for the information I was able to get just by poking around.

My build has been fun and I'm completely thrilled with the result. So much so I bought another 10/22 this weekend to make another.

This first build -
Kidd trigger single stage, 2lbs
Green Mountain bull barrel
Stocky's stock.
Topped it off with a 3-9 BSA sweet 22 scope

All pretty basic. Break in using CCI ammo shooting 500 rounds over the course of a long weekend with cleaning every 10 shots until I had 100 through, then every 20 shots. After that break in took the trigger and bolt out gave it all a good cleaning and lubed it up. Then started trying different ammo at 50 yrds. The 2 best are SK match grade 40 gr and Eley match 40 gr.

This past weekend I took my targets to the range. Paper targets have 25 3" targets per sheet. I shot 2 rounds per target or 50 rounds per paper for a total of 150 rounds on Sat and 150 rounds on Sunday. All groups could be covered by a dime. At least 1 of each group was in the bulls eye and many were 2 rounds in 1 hole. I ran a barrel snake through after each 50 rnds and did a thorough cleaning between the 2 days. Honestly I don't know how it would be possible to shoot better.

Did I luck out? If it is possible to do better how would I do it? Please comments and questions welcome.

SK is a great round for the price point. My groups with SK are as tight when compared to Eley

Nice looking rifle. I have a 10/22 in the closet awaiting mods. Once the financial committee releases the funds....
