I know this may sound like a spoiled little kid but the good Lord has blessed me with a little extra money at an opportune time so I wanna go for it. I really want to share EVERY step of my build so I can get every bit of advice I can along the way and get everybody's opinion about what I have done and am doing. Please don't take any of this the wrong way Neon Horse or 303lithgow, I want all the pointers and help I can get and I hope you guys understand where I'm coming from.
Like I always say, whatever floats your boat. Have a blast building YOUR 10/22

I have gotten quite a bit accomplished on my 10/22 build in the last couple days. I ordered my scope rings, Warne Maxima. Ordered a set of Butler Creek flip up scope caps for my Vortex Diamondback scope. Got my Hogue stock setting in the safe waiting to have goodies mounted on it. Got my 18" Kidd light weight black fluted barrel from Kidd today. Got my trigger group ready to drop off at the post office tomorrow morning to have Brimstone do their tier 2 trigger job on it plus ordered a new charging handle and extended pull mag release. Busy, busy!

I got my scope covers and scope rings in the mailcall today. The list of parts to come is getting smaller. I'm trying really hard not to add a Kidd scalloped black bolt to the list of things to come yet, but man they are sharp!

Just a little update. My Kidd bolt is supposed to be here tomorrow and I received an email from Brimstone today saying they received my trigger and will be doing my trigger job soon and then shipping it back to me with my charging handle and my newly installed mag release. I am going to look at a local gun show this weekend for a set of 6"-9" Harris bipods.

I am going to assemble my 10/22 this week and am curious, should I use a lube of some type or another during assembly? I will be installing a new Kidd bolt and barrel and my reworked trigger group coming back from Brimstone. Thanks for the help.

Talking

I love 10/22's

My TD with Brimstone trigger, Reworked Pete Lexy bolt, Rimfire Tech charging handle, UTG 3-9x32 Compact CQB, and Stainless take down screw for good measure.

My "pretty" 10/22 with Kidd trigger, Reworked and scalloped Pete Lexy bolt, Rimfire Tech charging handle, Amish leather sling w/ stainless hardware, Walnut Ruger stock, and Titanium take down screw for good measure.

It just seems every time "modifying" a gun is brought up, we see the "shoot it first" comments. Like the posts about the stock trigger should "smooth up" after a couple thousand rounds. Say what?............I'm NOT shooting a junky trigger for 2000 rounds, when after that, it will just be "smoother" junk.
You're probably right.

I keep thinking like I do when I'm in the field repairing machinery. When I have a "smart" day, I make sure a machine powers up and functions before I make a mod or change to it. On my "stupid" days, I fail to do that and sometimes I have an unrelated problem after I reassemble the machine. Of course, the customer always thinks I made the problem and wants it fixed for free.

Arrrgh. I hate my stupid days.

How many of y'all have "punched out" your receiver? I am thinking about doing it before I assemble everything. I have heard it is very handy as far as cleaning your rifle and for barrel removal, if necessary, in the future.

I have been wanting to do a build like this for a long time and am so happy to finally get it completed and am ready to head to the range. I really think it will be a tack driver and am ready to drop the hammer on some tree rats this fall.
