I have little ones, so we use a small quick access safe. Wife's SP101, XD9 with 5 high cap mags ready, and a Bersa t380 in the back. All loaded with good ammo.

Good LORD, I'd hate to hear THAT thing go off in the bedroom! But at least you'd cremate the perp simultaneously with ending his reign of terror.

Me? G19, interspersed with various other weapons placed in (what I'd like to think of as) strategic locations around the house.

Wife has SP101 - .357 on her side w/ .38spl 158gr loaded up.
I have Blackhawk .45LC on my side w/250 cowboy load.
Pilot knife and flashlight close by and easy reach ...
1 box of ammo in bathroom which is the last stand location for us.

My wife has a S&W Model 60 on her side of the bed, I have a 2.5" S&W Model 19 and a 18.5" Mossberg 12 ga. loaded with 00 buck within arms reach.

I like the belt and suspenders approach.
