Varies. Favorites on my side of the bed include a 4" Ruger Redhawk loaded with hollowpoint .44 Specials, and a 12-gauge Mossberg 590 pump loaded with buckshot. Either one looks like a train tunnel from the business end.

On the advice of an ex-cop who taught a couple of the classes we've attended, we also have some electronic hearing protection within easy reach of the bed. And we train to arm ourselves and put on that hearing protection with our eyes closed.

My S&W carry gun is in my bedside table drawer, along with an SP-101 3", and a P-95 is on the nightstand. My wife has a j-frame in hers, and everything else is locked in the safe.

Usually my nightstand gun is whatever I carried that day. So for the past few weeks, it has been my Ruger P95DC 9mm. At other times, it could be one of the following: Bersa UC9 9mm, Bersa T380CC.

My gun safe is in the closet, so if I were forewarned or had time, I might pull something from there, like my Ruger GP100 .357 4-inch or my RIA 1911 milspec .45ACP - or in the event of something really nasty going down, maybe even the AK47 or an SKS. The one thing I don't have right now is a home defense shotgun.

Smile What kind of gun do you keep at bedside?

I keep a Ruger Speed Six .357 (Postal Inspector) bedside and nearby is an 11-87 12gauge Semi-Automatic shotgun. The BG's aren't going to hear the racking of this baby.

I currently keep my H&K USP Compact in 40 S&W in my bedside safe. I rotate a new pistol in every couple of weeks.

How do you safely saw off a barrel, do you have any photos?
