Highest Value 1911

Ok, here's another poll. The gun fairy is switching to 1911's now, so when she arrives to you in a puff of smoke, which 1911 would you ask her for?

Please base your decision on which 1911 has the highest value, not the highest cost, unless that's the same, but which one of these 10 would you feel you got the biggest bang for your buck? (even though they're gun fairy bucks)

First off, there are way too many 1911 makers to keep everyone happy and remember, these polls max out at 10. There were at least 11 I thought of instantly, but we're limited to 10

So choose wisely.

I went with the SR1911. It's on the cheap end as 1911's go, but it comes with a lot of features of higher priced 1911's. It's a quality, well made pistol and I've had zero problems with mine.

I own 3 others, which all cost more, but it doesn't feel outclassed when I shoot them together.

I had to go with the one I own. If I had wanted another, I would have saved my money for that one instead.

RIA. Not necessarily the one I would choose, but I have one, and think it is an outstanding value.

Hmmm, not a lot of chatter on this poll. Remember folks, it flies off the radar if people don't reply to the thread.

So far we're getting a lot more votes than comments.

Something I was thinking about, was maybe making this a heat race, since there are so many other 1911's out there that didn't make the list. Maybe then take the highest from both in a final match?

I dunno. Just thinking outloud... er, uh, with my keyboard.

I would like to have matching Kimber Gold Combat II in stainless with black alumagrips.

I have a Colt and a Sig 1911 now.

I do own Kimbers, have owned a lot of other makers as well,Taurus,Springfield,RIA,Colt,Para,Auto Ordnance. So far I think the SR is the one with the best qualities for the lesser money.Mine keeps up with my Kimbers with no problems.I never have owned or shot some of the upper tier 1911's so I can't compare with those.

The Nighthawk, Wilson, Bear & Ed Brown are in a different league than the rest and all are top notch 1911s.
With it coming from the fairy I would go with the Ed Brown because they are fine guns and I like the ascetics of his guns better than the others.

The old Colts have gotten pretty expensive. I voted for the Colt. I don't think you can beat a SR1911 for the price.

The only 1911 on the list I've shot is the Colt military issued 1911. I ran the qualifying range and expert after all the training I gave to those trying to qualify. Mine is not on the list.

It's not listed and should be I've owned and still do several of the 1911's mentioned such as the Kimber, Springfield,Colt,Para and The Ria even a Sig and they are all good pistols but a few years ago I bought a STI Trojan with the Hard Chrome finish and with now about 500 rds down its pipe its been 100% with every ammo I've fed it including several brands of HP and the action/slide is the smoothest I've ever felt ,in fact I've let some others try it and they were amazed! No kidding they are just awesome pistols and I recommend everyone try's one

STI was on the original list until I realized I'd left off Colt!

I own three Colts, two Kimbers, a Dan Wesson Valor, a Lew Horton (1 of 50) engraved S&W, and a Rock Island TAC II. The best production 1911 without getting into semi-customs or customs is the Dan Wesson Valor. If the gun fairy is providing it, I would go with a Nighthawk HEINIE LONG SLIDE 6" 10MM.

Well I would have left the RIA out they are decent guns but rather low on this list I had a compact and the 2011 rail version they both ran fine but lacked attention to detail and crude finishes but they are a good start for most novice... wish I could post a picture of my STI but at this point im unable too
