SR .40 vs. XD .40?

We currently have four wonderful handguns and are looking to add a .40 to the family. We are trying to decide between the SR 40 and the Springfield XD 40. Any thoughts? I, of course, am partial to the Ruger; hubby is leaning towards the Springfield.

I would go with the Ruger SR40, the Springfield has twice the recoil because of its weight. Also buy made in the US

I had a XD40SC for years and it was a primary carry weapon. Accurate, easy to handle, and never a hiccup with anything I fed it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend an XD. The .40 got traded, but I still have a couple xd's in my safe.

Compare the price of the two. Are you getting the difference in price with an XD? The SR is accurate, reliable, and priced right. In the end; if it's going to be hubby's gun let him buy what he wants or he'll not be happy. If it's going to be yours do the same. Both are good guns but my opinion is that the XD line is way overpriced for what you get.

I have shot both and the SR is the softest shooting. I own a sr9 and a xd45. Both are great weapons so it would come down to personal preference for me. Having been a ruger fan for a couple of decades it would be a biased decision.

I have a XD45 and a SR9c. Both are great guns. I have a slight preference for guns with manual safeties so I would probably go with the Ruger. The grip safety on the XD is a nice feature though.

What are you going to use it for? I see you already have an XD 45 Tactical...thats my favorite polymer 45. Go for another Springfield to complete the set..

If you're looking at the SR40 and XD40, then I'd say go for the SR40. The SR40 holds more rounds (15) versus the XD40 (12), and is not as bulky in comparison.

Now if you're looking at the XDM40, that's a diffeerent story. Both the 4.5" and 3.8" models hold 16rounds on .40. I think in this case, the XDM is a better-made gun, but not by a whole lot. And there has been some complaints of the stainless slide developing rust. Considerting the XDM costs around $600-680, I believe that the Ruger SR40 is a much better deal for what you get. Again, the SR40 wins.

I wish I could make my own choices this easily. I'm still trying to decide what i want to get, lol. Maybe you can help me out as well?
Looking to get a new handgun.
