| Bought an XD 45 compact.
Went into my local gun shop thinking I was going to snap up a Smith & Wesson M&P 45 compact with FDE frame, and ended up taking the Springer.
Why? Picking one vs the other was almost impossible for me to do. Like the feel of both, liked the safety lever on the M&P, but liked the feel of the XD better as it seemed to sit in my hand better for whatever reason.
Anyone else have one of these? Seems the .45 "compact" is basically their 4" service model and a shorter grip.

I think you'll be happy with your choice. I have the XD45 Tactical (fancy name for a full size 5") and have enjoyed it from day one. I did have a XD9SC and XD40SC, but have since traded them for other handguns. I have never had a problem or complaint with any of them, but I have to say the .45 is my favorite. I agree with you about the fit and feel of the XD compared to the M&P and Glock. I tried them all before settling on the XD and never looked back.

Congratulations on the new handgun. I am getting the itch to purchase a new one myself.

The XD series afe great semi autos. I like its balance far and away better than a Glock.

I like it and it has been very reliable to date.
Unlike some folks, I really like the extra safeties in the XD design.

I have the M&Pc .45, in FDE as you mentioned. To me, it's not so much a compact as a Commander sized pistol. I don't think you can go wrong with either, although when I had my XDm, I thought the bore axis was a little high, but maybe that was just me.
Congrats, and good shooting.

i have been thinking about the M&P again. They've got a bunch of them and it seems getting night sights installed might be easier on the M&P vs the Springer. Haven't taken delivery of the XD yet, so who knows.

My everyday carry is an XD sub-compact in 9mm. Great firearms and I like the Blackhawk Sherpa holster.

I have the 4.5" version of it. Extremely accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I'm not as fond of the XD's but they have a strong, loyal following.

Has the 4" service model barrel, with a shorter grip w/ 10 round flush magazine and 13 round extended magazine.
