NCLE089.... would have hoped SIG had straightened out the trigger bar reset springs years ago. Years ago I proposed to SIG that they try a 2-wire wound spring. I broke said spring a P226 9mm and P220 .45 ACP. As you note, A trigger bar spring breaks unannounced and instantly puts the pistol out of action. In one case I felt one fail----begin to break----with a weak reset. I gave one more shot and was done. It would seem that a wound spring----or at least a thicker, slightly softer spring----should cure this potentially fatal flaw.

When the Louisiana State Police authorized auto pistols (LSP pistols were self-issue at that time) in 1994, SIGs were very popular, and the experienced instructors recommended swapping the trigger bar spring every couple thousand rounds.

My experience with SIGs predates the plastic frames, and the P226 9mm, P220 .45 ACP, P229 in .357 SIG and .40 S&W, and the P239 9mm were highly accurate and reliable, giving up nothing in accuracy to any other production auto pistol .

There were some bad Glock recoil springs; those I'm familiar with broke within one or two boxes, meaning the flawed part showed up during normal pre-carry firing. Nevertheless, when the recoil spring retainer breaks, the gun is done for until the spring assembly is replaced.

The superiority of a good plastic frame over an aluminum frame is fact, not opinion. Even so, we continue to see flawed products. As such, Browning's Model 1911 remains the benchmark by which all cartridge firing auto pistols must be judged.

It's not just the recoil spring. They are having issues with the MIM extractors and ejector combinations. Glock is saying it's weak 115gr ammo causing the issue and that you should only shoot NATO 124gr ammo in them. WHAT?? Their own owner's manuals state that any ammo that meets SAMMI specs is fine to use in their guns. As I said, I am not a Glock hater. I really want a G19. It's just going to be a Gen2 or early production Gen3.

Now, if we end up going with the S&W, I'll be okay with that too...I particularly like how the M&P has the optional manual safety, whereas Glock does not have such an option.
