I don't know how you intend to use your 10mm but, if I were you, Glock would be my choice. Why? They never fail to fire, wellll, how about 99.9999% of the time.
Or, do a custom build & spec it out yourself on a 1911 frame.

OP, have you looked at the glock 20SF? it is the short frame version--try one, i bet you'll like it. this is a gen3 glock. Or, as others have said, just get the gen4.

I would get a S&W 610 if you can fing one,
then you do not have to change anything to switch
from 10mm to .40 and can mix them in the clip.

The GLOCK model 20, has the least amount of recoil of all other 10mm caliber pistols on the market. I have 3 of these 10mm in model 20 Glocks. One is a Dillion 25 or 9mm on top a 10mm case. It is very very fast hits harder than Smoky Joe Frazier did while in the ring.
The Glock model 20 "10mm" also has the best track record and I personally consider it the very best in a CCW tool for self-defense. A 165 grn bullet doing 1400-fps, with 760 pounds of kinetic energy Wow!!!
I suppose you could go the route of the 200 grn bullet doing 1260-fps and penetration that will shoot through a bull standing sideways at 30 ft. |

10mm can be interesting. I've had:
Glock 20 - Too big for my small hands.
S&W 1006 - Again, too big for my small hands. BUT, S&W modified the action to DAO like the 1046 - perfect!
S&W 1066 - Same problem as the 1006, so it "went."
S&W 1086 - Great gun. Commander sized, and DOA (only about 1600 made).
Delta Elite - Great gun in 1911 format.
Sold the Glock some time ago. The S&W's had the magazine disconnect "feature" so I either sold them, or used them on a trade (my first Ruger!). Still have the Delta Elite.
If you can live with the magazine disconnect, the S&W are great guns.
Good luck.

I'm a former G21SF owner. It didn't fit my hand. I know the 20SF has the same dimensions.
I'm still looking around. I got time. |

| When I put new nightsight on my 1076 I'll be danged but the mag disconect spring and plunger fell out rendering it inoperable. Now the dang thing works like a normal gun
I'll add that if your ruling out Glocks and 1911s your really only left wit a used smith 10xx series and a Witness. the 10xx were great guns heavy and built to take the pounding of a 10mm. If I were to get a Witness it'd be the Elite Match or Hunter.
