| Any thoughts on the Taurus 445UL
Hello all, I'm looking at a Taurus 445UL for sale at a LGS. The 445UL is the 44 S&W Spl Ultra Lite, looks like a nice revolver, but I have no experience with Taurus revolvers, this would be my first, I had one Taurus auto a PT58HC 380 acp, no complaints with it other that it was way too big for a 380. All of my other revolvers are mostly Smith's and Rugers, how does Taurus compare? I like the 44 snubbie, it looks like it would be a nice addition to my other 44 Spl's a S&W 696-0 and a 1st generation Charter Bulldog.

I have no experience with that particular model, though I will say that I have several of their products and all have been top notch! When I take my PT92 or my .357 Mag Taurus Tracker to the range along with my Ruger's and Smith and Wesson's I will occasionally encounter a " Taurus Basher". Then I just out shoot them with my cheap inadequate Taurus guns. They may not be the absolute best in the world, but pound for pound and dollar for dollar they're one of the best bang for the buck values going. They have a life time warranty as well. The model you asked about should be fine. I am a member of Taurus armed . Net also. Lots of good guy's and lots of good info over there! Check it out and you should find the info you're looking for. Good Luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

I'm banned at TaurusArmed for speaking the truth about Taurus, 2 PT709's had to go back, 1 PT-22 was sent down 3 times, and they replaced it with a new one. After 22 shots the new one broke.
Friends don't let friends buy Taurus.
If you're cheap, go with a cheap gun that has a lifetime warranty. The warranty is good, the product isn't.
Glock only has a 1 year warranty, Ruger has none. Glock doesn't make a revovler

Glock doesn't make a revovler | Thanks, I am neither cheep nor looking for a Semi auto, as indicated I have several revolvers in all calibers and am looking for something new to add to my collection in 44 special in addition to my S&W 696 and CA Bulldog. I would prefer something in a snubbie, so as neither Ruger or S&W make such a firearm, I was asking about the taurus revolvers as they do offer a 44 spl. I wasn't asking about taurus autos, although the one I did own was an excellent gun admittedly based on the Beretta 92, I had no complaints about the gun other than it's size. I do own numerous auto's SIG's Rugers, Smith, Colts etc but no Glocks as I don't care for them, but thanks for your input.

I'm a member of the Smith and Wesson forum also. There are a number of threads about recent smith and Wesson revolvers with barrels that are crooked as a dogs hind leg. Doesn't mean that everything the produce is junk. Taurus makes a FINE wheel gun. Let me know how it shakes out as I am recently very interested in the .44 special as well!

Come to think of it if Ruger were to introduce say a GP100 as a 5 shot 44Spl/45 Colt snubbie, then we'd have something!

Oh yeah! I've given that a lot of thought my self. I think there is a guy who does a 5 shot .44 special conversion ti the GP-100. I saw a thread here on it once.

I'm sorry to say that I have no personal experience with that particular model, but my model 85 .38 has sent a few hundred rounds down range with no issue. I would not hesitate to purchase another Taurus.

I own two 44 Specials, A Taurus model 445 standard weight, Blue and a Charter Bulldog Stainless. Of the two I prefer the Charter... not a putdown on the Taurus, but due to the lighter weight for toting around of the Charter. I have several other Taurus revolvers and have yet to have a 'bad' one. I have not compared the lightweight Taurus to My Charter though. |

You will always find people who love to bash Taurus. I own a lot of handguns, however, only two of them are made by Taurus; a .38 spl. snubby and a PT58. I don't shoot either one very much but when I have I had no problems. I'm not about to say they are my favorite manufacturer but I'm not about to start slamming them either. There's not a gun manufacturer out there that hasn't had something negative said about them. That's just the way the real world operates. If the Taurus is the gun you want then go ahead with it.

Thank you all for you thoughts and opinions. I think I'm gonna give her a try and jump into the Taurus revolver pond and give that 44 a try, it's light anf handy it should be a good carry gun, I'll post more when I have it and test her out at the range.

I'm real interested in your feed back as I have become smitten with the .44Mag, and have been running .44 specials through the Redhawk . Really wanting a .44 spec for carry. Thanks in advance for your experiences.

No experience with Taurus. I have heard they are very hit and miss kind of like Century Intl. It just seems like 1 out of every 3 gun guys has a "Stinkin' Taurus Revolver" story to tell.

Our new gun store has 2 of those pistols in stock! I like the looks but have had problems twice with 2 new Milleneums jamming over 50 percent of the time. I am a little gun shy of the company's products.

I am a little gun shy of the company's products. | The Millennium guns are auto loaders. I have read of issues on the millennium pistols a while back. Never on a PT-92 (Beretta Clone) or their 24/7 guns or any of their revolvers. I'm sure of those there has been a lemon at some point but I fully trust all the ones I own. As do I with my Smith and Wesson, and Ruger guns. Just my 2 cents.
