| SW 66-2 SS, Used, No box $450
My LGS has listed a SW 66-2 SS, Wood grips, Used with no box for $450. Theres 1 picture up and the gun looks like its in good shape, I'd like for them to include atleast a soft case, thinking about going to look at the gun today or tomorow. Does this pricing sound fair? I'm not really a SW or Ruger loyalists yet when it comes to revolvers, only have the SP101 and I've been looking around for a good full size (4in or longer, 6-8 shot) .357 revolver to share reloads with. Of course I know of Rugers overbuilt beasts of a revolvers and I like the look of the thick SP101 over any SW snubs I've seen, been looking for a fairly cheap, used GP100 or Security Six also. I saw a Blue GP100 on here a few weeks ago for a good price but I like SS handguns myself. Is $450 a good price for this SW?
When it comes to checking it out, I know about lockup and cylinder gap, I have some feeler gauges so I dont need a whole lesson on that, some tips wont hurt though.

I haven't dealt with S&W's in quite sometime. I think that's a bit high. It's been some years since they made the "K" frame and are sought after like the Security Sixes which keeps prices going up. The K frames will not hold up as well as the L frame or the Ruger GP100's. They are a nice gun. I'd compare prices on gunsamerica ,gunbroker etc. If it's in like new condition then that might be a fair price.

I picked up a 6"...66-2 somewhere around a month ago now, if I remember correctly.
Out the door...$432.00
After I cleaned it up, it turned out to be a very nice acquisition. |

But either way they are good looking guns, I saw them on GB from 380-600 so I think 450 would be reasonable but if its not in good shape, I dont think I'll take it

I picked this one up at my LGS...and they had it tagged for $479. It didn't come with the factory box but whoever traded it in had it in a Doskocil (sp) carry case. I asked for a discount and was pretty much told they couldn't budge on it...but they rang me up for the $432.00...so I got the discount, it was just on the hush.

I'm reading that they are on the lighter end of frame size, how well do you think the gun would handle .357s? I reload so I'd probably shoot close to as many .357s (158s though) as I would .38s. After getting used to Rugers, its kind of strange thinking that the SW wont hold up as well, just weird logic that the snubnose could take more constant .357 use than a fullsize .357 but the SP101 is a stout little thing

BTW, this one I'm looking at has a wood grip with the silver medallion, I'm really liking the look of this pistol and while its not one of those 8shot .357s I've been leaning to, if this thing is in good shape, I'd wouldnt mind it being my first SW

You probably won't be disappointed. Just stay away from the high speed 125 gr 357 stuff if you're shooting a lot of them. If you stick to the 158 gr you should have no trouble. There's a lot of info on this at the S&W collectors forum. Smith & Wesson Forum |

Been checking around at any online resource. I reload plated so all I've been reloading are 158s to keep the velocity below 1200fps. I got 4 boxes of Fiocchi 142gr, mostly for the new cases, that are supposed to be pretty hot, I probably will only shoot them in the SP101
Just hope the gun is there tomorow and locks up nicely
