I make it a point to never watch / listen to somebody tell me why something is the best something for me and I should just trust their judgement.

I'm tired of these "experts" on Youtube spouting off nonsense that has 0 basis in personal experience.

The 1911 has been going strong for over 100 years, seen service from WW1 to today, used in conditions from the Arctic to the Jungle........they are just as popular today as they were 100 years ago.... and just now re-adopted by US Marine Spec Ops forces....yeah, they suck That's why you have to pretty much sell your soul to get your hands on an SR-1911

I guarantee few if any of these guys are ex or current LEO's or Combat Veterans with any personal experience using a 1911 in ACTUAL life threatening scenarios......some clown shoots 100 rounds at the range with a Kimber and now he's on YouTube telling you why they suck.

I myself have a Springfield Armory Inc. 1911A1 "GI" Model, their bare bones basic model that's made in Brazil (probably by Imbel, which is good) and it is flawless and has NEVER jammed or malfunctioned on me, through 1,000's of rounds of mostly cheap Wolf and Blazer .45 ACP. I used to beat on this gun, often firing a 1,000 round case of .45 ACP in a single day without cleaning the gun......it's already on it's 3rd recoil spring and I got it in about 2003. I've probably got an easy 10,000 rounds through it, and besides my CZ85b it's my most fired handgun. Being a revolver nut, I hardly ever shoot it now, but in my younger days the 1911 was one of my only handguns and .45 was still cheap(er)...........so I blasted away! I have since dropped in a surplus USGI chrome lined barrel, there was nothing wrong with the other one, I just want to make as many parts of the gun USGI as possible because I can't afford a "real" 1911A1.

It's my "range gun" but only because I find it too heavy for CC and I prefer revolvers for defense.

I have never used a 1911A1 in combat, in fact by the time I went into the Army these were long gone.......The M4 Carbine was my issued weapon

fungun will become famous soon enough
What's utterly ridiculous about his rant is saying that Glocks always work. Apparently he is in denial:

LAPD Halts Use of Some Glock Guns - Los Angeles Times

Glock 36 Malfunction

Glock kB! FAQ v1.35

NRA Mobile

Anyone would be remiss to conclude from this post that I am anti-Glock, to the contrary many people use them with great success every day. I am however anti Glock fanboyz who are so consumed by their cranial rectal insertion that they ignore or deny the problems with the brand.

[QUOTE=biggun;686185]Just spent my life saving on a beautiful new 1911 for self defense purposes. After watching this video i am now sick if this video holds true. Need you guys input before i trade my beautiful new gun for an ugly Glock.
Thanks

well, biggun, looks like you got the answers you were hoping for. when i posted initially, i was just guessing, but didn't like the cut of that guy's jib. so far here, to sum up, nothing particularly anti-glock, but not a single post has said you made a mistake. you obviously did not. enjoy your 1911, and don't worry about the trolls!! :-)

Just looking at this guy's shirt and you know he is a tacticool douche.

I've seen the video and though he makes some valid points he makes some overly general broad brushstrokes.

Opinions are like...., Everybody has one. You know the rest.

The guy in the video yammers quite a bit about how great he is, and spends some lip-flapping time selling Glocks. but he is right about production line manufacturing tolerance variations in most machining facilities. He neglects to mention that Glocks are also mass produced pistols.

Personally, I don't have all that much use for any 1911, but they are pretty nice pistols overall and there are indeed some beautiful 1911s available. The Ruger seems like a great choice for someone who might be inclined to go with a 1911.

In the end it comes down to shooting what one prefers. If he likes Glocks, then fine. If you or I may prefer a 1911, that is fine too. Neither one is going to make your manhood any bigger.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Personally I think his opinion is flawed but that's my opinion. Shoot your gun. Enjoy your gun. Do a lot of both. If you start having problems with "malfunctions" on a consistent basis even after sending it in for warranty work or maybe a change of ammo, then sell it and find another one. Two people can buy the same gun on the same day at the same store and one have problems while the other doesn't. *If your going to carry your 1911 just make sure you put a few hundred rounds through it so you are real familiar with it. And, as with ALL firearms, make sure you know how to clear a "Malfunction". It can happen to any manufacture and model of ALL firearms. You didn't say what manufacturer of 1911 you bought. Maybe some pics also. Be proud. Show her off. And most importantly don't EVER drink the Glock Kool Aid. Glocks SUCK. See, I have opinions too. Glock lovers response in 3, 2, 1 .....

Exactly Buck! This guy's a troll, thinks if you don't own a glock your an idiot, Well I don't own a single glock, however I do have two 1911's two SIG 220's and SIG 245. I won't own a Glock as I don't care for them. They're good firearms but they ain't all that to everyone. Folks like this gentleman just cannot accept, that not everyone is in love with glock. Take his opinion for what it is, an opinion, and worth nothing more than the time it takes to listen to it. Remember what they say; opinions are like ***holes, everybody got one. Enjoy your 1911! Ignore the idiot. besides I think he really likes to hear himself speak, kind of like Obummer..
That yahoo is a legend in his own mind....Internet commando...really has he looked in the mirror lately?
