| carry gun question- use Bersa 83 or get new LCP/LC9?
I am getting to the point where I am about ready to carry full-time. I am trying to determine whether I should stick with my old faithful Bersa Model 83 .380 or get a new LCP or LC9.
My question is entirely about the ergonomics- concealability and comfort. I am perfectly happy with the ballistics and round count of my Bersa .380 for a daily carry gun and I am proficient with it, but I am wondering if any LCP/LC9 owners who also own Bersa .380s and can give me some feedback on the pros and cons of carrying both.
Re: ergonomics, I live in a four seasons climate and typically wear my shirts untucked.
Thanks

Have you thought about an SR9c?
They are a little bigger than either of the two you mentioned, but have a great trigger pull, low recoil, and better accuracy IMO. I find mine to be fairly easy to conceal.

I say if your comfortable with the gun and you can carry it, stick with what you know already. The Bersa is a great gun and dependable.
Get a good holster and you shouldn't have any problems carrying it with just a t-shirt.
But if you're looking for an excuse to get another gun, then the LCP is a great gun as well. Never handled the LC9

But if you're looking for an excuse to get another gun, then the LCP is a great gun as well. Never handled the LC9 | I am comfortable shooting it, and I trust it, but I have never carried it for more than a few hours at a time and that was back in Maine when I had a permit 20 years ago. I havent worn it since I got legal in this state. (All I have is a cheap Uncle Mike's small of the back holster that I use to protect it around the house more than anything else)
Good to know about the holster/tshirt. No, I am not really looking for an excuse to buy a gun. If I can expect the Bersa to carry well that frees me up to get a SR1911 or just use my money on more reloading components before they start getting too scarce.
I have heard the SR9c is a better gun to shoot but that extra thickness and weight really seems like it would be a factor.
I know the correct answer is to "just try it" but since its so tough to know what holster and gun combo is going to work well until you break it in I thought I might get lucky and find someone who owns and carries both and has an opinion.
Thanks for the replies

I was looking for a carry gun and bought a Bersa Thunder 380, then I bought a Gaurdian 380, but didn't like how small it was, hard to handel, so I went back to the Bersa, then thought a 9mm would give me more fire power.......so I bought a SCCY, and it's feel too big and cheap........and I humbly come back to my Bersa which is by far the sweetest small gun I have ever owned. I have a 10 shot clip in it and thought I might try the Bersa 15 shot, but the handle is a bit too thick and feels odd......stick with the Bersa, it can't be beat for the dollar spent.

I have heard the NAA Guardian is an excellent gun for the price, about $350, the .380 is bigger than the .32, and the .32 looks like a micro pistol. I myself am looking at an NAA .32, my Beretta .25 is a mouse gun and the NAA looks to be the same size, and .32 ACP is no joke of a round with good SD ammo like Winchester Silver Tip.
I have also heard good things about the Masterpiece Arms .380.
Otherwise, I would go with the Ruger LCP.
I am not familiar with Bersa but I hear they are good, well made guns from Argentina. The older Bersa .380's are all steel, the new ones are alloy frame I believe.
If you like the Bersa I see no reason to change, the .380 is a good SD round despite what a lot of naysayers have to say about it.

I have a SR9c and a LC9. Ther SR9c is definitely more comfortable to shoot. However, The LC9 is just about as accurate and being alot thinner, conceals a better. The grip surfaces of the LC9 are pretty sharp . I have been shooting in 100+ degree heat and sweaty hands are an issue. The SR9 starts to slide a bit but the LC9 acts like it is welded to my hand. Both are great guns. Never shot a Bersa. Hope this helps a little. Good luck!

You call it "old faithful" and say you're proficient with it. Along with being a good carry size, I'd say you answered your own question.

If you need a good holster, check out ubgholsters.com or luvthegunholsters.com
All I have for my carry guns are UBG, but have heard great things about luvthegunholsters as well and going to order one for my 1911 when I get it.

The LCP and LC9 are good carries. I also bought a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 and cannot say enough good things about it. All stainless/polymer (no blueing like the Rugers, so no possibilty of corrosion from body sweat), safety, built in laser. I have fired the Bersa, not a fan. I think you'd be much happier concealing the LCP, LC9, or even the Bodyguard. So light, you barely notice them

Just get a better holster.

No break in required. I got a little range work in before the meeting and had no problems cleanly pulling the gun and getting it on target. It carried well both on my motorcycle and sitting in the fold up chairs. We will see how it does in a car but so far, so good.
Thanks for the advice all.
