| New S&W 627 on the block
Well, as many of you know, mostly Rugers are my favorite guns. But there are always exceptions. Today I finally got past the California 30 day wait between handgun purchases and the 10 day "DROS" wait. Picked up the new 627 and went straight to the range. The revolver did not appear to have any grease or packing crud on it, so I made an exception to my usual practice of cleaning and lubing a new firearm before shooting.
Well, no worries. The first two single-action shots at 30 feet were bull's eyes. I couldn't believe it. Then of course I got carried away and a few flyers (still on the target but not bull's eyes.) This honey shoots as well as she looks, limited only by my own poor abilities.
The trigger is great and even shooting .357 the recoil is very manageable; the revolver "handles" well. With the 5" barrel not "barrel heavy" either.

Looks good, I wish Ruger made an 8 shot .357, I think they are more effective than the 1911s. I was going to ask how much but I'm sure the performance center stuff wasnt in my price range currently so dont worry about it

I wish the ruger double actions came in more than 6 shot capacity. The redhawk could do 8 or 9 rounds. The gp100 could be 7 shot like the 686.

Yeah, dunno why they don't make a 7-round GP & 8-round Redhawk. If the Smith N-frame can handle 8, a Redhawk should be able to easily.

That is a sweet revolver though, enjoy!

That's beautiful and with the 5" inch barrel is not too long or short. The only improvements for me would be adding rubber Pachmayr grips and reworking the trigger so it pulls as smooth as a Python.

Very Nice! Congradulations on the choice of revolvers! I've always favored revolvers over semi-auto's for personal carry...only beaten by size and weight! I've always been much more accurate with a revolver than a semi-auto!

But I prefer wood and really like the wood grips that it came with.
Looking forward to taking the S&W and my beloved Ruger GP100 to the range and having "Revolver day!" That oughtta freak out the Glock gang.
