There. I said it.

Revolver > Semi auto.

I have one of each now. After noting that revolvers don't chuck brass everywhere, I got a revolver after considering the recent hoopla about microstamping. I really prefer the heavy (but smooth) trigger combined with the lack of a manual safety, and it seems to point much more naturally for me. Also, the ergonomics are much nicer for iwb use. In sum, the trusty HK has now been relegated to the nightstand and mall duty.

All I need are some snap caps & a couple of speed loaders (the ones from Five Star look nice) for a few drills & I'll be all set.

That's what I'm saying. I love all of 'em, but revolvers hold a special place in my heart.

This statement isnt really specific to a revolver or semi, more to a brand or model of gun. Depending on caliber/capacity, it could go either way for me.

I've always been more of a wheelgun guy.

Only advantages a semi auto has are higher capacity, slightly faster reload (maybe), and capable of being smaller.

The wheelgun's disadvantages are size/weight, lower capacity, and somewhat harder to clean well. They will shoot most anything you feed them, and do it reliably 99.999% of the time.

When I went thru the academy back in the 80's we all learned on revolvers, autos hadn't really caught on yet. There's nothing wrong with a good wheelgun! Be it a 5, 6, or 7 shooter. A good wheelgun will save your bacon just as well as an autoloader. FBI Stats have shown that most armed altercations are over in 5 seconds or less with 2 to 3 shots fired on average, well within the capabilities of a good revolver. Lets face it most criminals are oportunistic cowards and when the shooting begins they begin beating feet for somewhere else. So yea sometimes I do carry a revolver but I never feel that I'm undergunned when I do.

I've never even fired a revolver other than a .22. I kind of get the appeal in that you don't have to worry about FTF or stovepipes or other malfunctions common with semi's but I just don't think I could get used to one. I learned to shoot pistols on a service M9 and if I can shoot well with that, I feel like I can shoot well with any semi.

I would like to welcome you to old fart revolver land. I learned on revolvers and they are as accurate as I am and no condition one or 2 or chamber loaded or not etc. Also as I get more arthritis in my hands a revolver is nice.
