I just prefer not to wait for mine. But Wisconsin has a 48 hour wait period for handguns. Yeah I do the same thing.

I don't wait!! I carry CCL from the two states I trade in now and I don't wait. Fill out the 4473 sign it and pay and go. I can't buy hand guns in the one state but I can do long guns. Makes life much more harmonious. My CCL's both have the same address on them. Dealers welcome the ease of not making the NICS call and neither state requires a state check with or without a CCL.

Longest I ever waited was 10 minutes so no. Besides, all that stuff is done prior to the sale so there's no unexpected surprises on accessory cost/availability after the purchase.

This is about as bad as it gets in the Us except for a few places like NY or Chicago which until recently ahd handgun bans. They were overturned by our supreme court. I spent 3 weeks in australia in 1975 it was great and I had a great uncle who was statione in darwin during ww2.

I'm sorry for your pain. One of the great things about CCl is that I buy and take my firearm home with me. Can't speak to all the states but it is true for MA, CT and KY. Hell in Kentucky we like to say "if you don't have a gun, we'll get you one.".

No waiting in NC. Show your D/L, CHL, fill out the 4473 plop your money down and walk out. Without a CHL you have to go to the sheriff to get a handgun buy permit. I'm pretty sure once you get the buy permit you just walk out with your gun.

No wait in North Carolina. Okay, we still have to go to the sheriffs office and pay $5 for a ticket to purchase a handgun (same background check as would be done at the FFL otherwise), but really that's purely about the revenue these days and a hold over from a law that every other state forgot about long ago. If you have a CHL, no need for the purchase ticket. Either way, you put cash in the hand of the FFL and they put the gun in yours and you go home.
Long guns, pay and go - most shops will run a NICS check by telephone, but technically it is not required.
Plus there is a thriving private sale community here (and in Virginia, where I used to live), although in NC the seller of a handgun must collect the purchase permit according to the law (local county sheriff's office is going to get their five bucks no matter how you do it).
RR must of posted while I was typing |

In NH it's fill out the federal form, a background check and out the door with the handgun. Usually about a half hour before you are on your way.
Sorry your state has the waiting requirements to exercise your second amendment rights. Time to get politically active and work to change the system.

In GA, if you pass the quick backround check, you walk out with a gun. No fees or hoops, as it should be. No 2nd Amendment trampling necessary.
