Does anybody make a WWII style German 9mm luger these days? I've done a few Google searches but have come up dry. Ruger comes closest to it, but doesn't offer it in a 9mm and advertises it with the look and feel of a 1911.
The SR1911 satisfied that lust in me (at least temporarily), but I've always thought the Nazi 9mm Luger that all the bad guys on Combat carried is one of the coolest looking guns ever made. Somebody must make a replica!

Hmm... I don't know what about the SR1911 looks like the Luger to you but I have never seen a SR in person.... I have seen Lugers in pawn shops and whatnot, so if you are so dedicated to the design, why not get the real deal? I found this link with quite a few for sale, if you have the $$$. Lugers |

Lugers | Thanks, I found that link too. All I saw were "real" Lugers. What I was hoping to find was a company that makes a modern version of the WWII P-08 ala Ruger's homage to the 1911, aka SR1911. It's probably on the unicorn isle, but I can hope!

You probably mean the Ruger MK series looks like the Luger not their 22/45. Regarding the Ruger look alike. Bill Ruger was inspired by the Luger when he designed his MK1. As far as I know no one makes a replica. I wish someone would. In fact I even sent an email to Ruger's President suggesting it and they could call it a "Ruger Luger". I received no response. I think they would be hot sellers though. There are three handguns that fit my hand well and point well for me and they are the Colt SA/clones, the 1911 and the Luger.

Try looking for a Walther P38 or P1. I know they're not "Lugers" but they can be found easily and more cheaply. They're 9mm and a "WWII era" gun. |

jih820, I don't understand how your comparing a german luger with a Ruger 1911 .
Two completely different guns. The above photo of the Walther does look similar to the orignal Lugar.

A number of years ago, there was a company called Erma that made a .380 replica of the Luger. I don't think they're still manufactured, but I have seen them on www.gunbroker.com recently.

Somebody must make a replica! | I think that this was the most recent reproduction: Mitchell Luger Stainless Steel 9MM : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com
It went out of production back in the '90's.
Also, a while back, DWM (I think) made a new version of a real Luger. However, it was very expensive and not for beginners like me.
Stoeger made a "sort-of" copy chambered in .22 lr and (I think) .32 and .380 acp. If you check gunbroker.com you will find examples of these. Probably not what you'd want though.
Shootable mis-matched versions of low-end originals can also be had reasonably. If it were me (actually it was because I bought one) I'd save up and buy a decent original. Doesn't have to be a pristine rare version, just a good example. You won't regret it.
Good luck ...

It's like asking for someone to build a C96 Mauser. The maching costs would be so huge that you couldn't sell them at a price anyone could afford. There are some affordable(?) shooters at shows sometimes, and probably on some of the auction sites. Good luck.

Comparing the P38 to a Luger Parabellum won't cut it. different actions and ergonomics. The Parabellum is likely the most ergonomic pistol ever designed for pointability. I have owned, carried and fired examples of both.
A few years ago a bunch of Russian captures made it into the country and all were snapped up pretty quick. I lucked out and got a vet bring-back in about mint shape. Lugers are ammo sensitive and dirt sensitive as well. A decent Luger would be worth more as a collection piece, especially if it comes with leather. A Russian capture would be a good shooter. Check the ads... figure $1000 and up depending on shape.

That's the best idea, yet! But I do have my standards and the people making it would all have to be potty trained and weaned.
