Fell off the wagon

Been sober for about 1 year and 9 months.
Found a new job, discovered a new hobby, rediscovered an old one, got more active in church, daughter maxed out my credit card and a few other excuses didn't permit me to buy a gun, new or used, until last night.
I've long postponed getting a CCW license but things have settled down in recent months that I started to do some research on the process.
I'm sold on the merits of 45acp for SD, and my wife and I are in love with the 1911 (she with her GSG 1911-22 and me with my RIA).
So, last night after work, I started the 10-day CA waiting period (it sucks, I know) for what would be my 10th gun, a RIA compact 1911. There was a Kimber that's calling my name but way over my budget.
For some reason, I've always thought that my gun "collection" would never reach double digits, or I would need to seek help.

I carried a government full size 45 for years. The weight did not bother me and I liked that I could carry cocked and locked. Now, I carry a S&W M&P 45 with 10 rounds magazines. It is much lighter in weight and has a manual safety. I use Blackhawk Serpa holsters.

Congrats on your new RIA and decision to join the CCW family. IMHO a compact 1911 is a great choice for CC. My Springfield 1911 Micro-compact has been my primary EDC for the past 9 years and have no thoughts of a change

Congrats.

I have 1911's, and while they are excellent on accuracy, I dont carry one as an EDC because of weight & concealability. But there is no doubt, the 45 caliber is like getting hit with a dump truck.

Oh, and ,

Trust me,, 10 aint NOTHING to worry about. Ur fine. You dont even have the firearm collecting virus yet.

Many congrats are due for staying away from booze. Booze never benefited anyone or anything except the manufacturers and sellers.

My dad died from boozin all his life . . . vodka to be exact. Lost his license to drive was only the starters. He ruined more families than just ours with his drinking. I hated him for what he did to us.

I am telling you this so you can enjoy the benefits of life and family! Those two things can give you more enjoyment than any bottle ever could.

I quit smoking about 20 years ago. My God, I had a pocket full of money at the end of the week! Never had that before having to shell out $40 a week for Marlboros. That was over $2000 a year that now could be spent on guns and ammo!

I guess alcohol will do the same once you quit.

Good Luck @alayonruger

Well, there sure are worse things to spend your time and money on

If collecting floats your boat, sail on! You will eventually dock in the Port of Embarrassment, thinking my, oh my, how the collection has grown! Fear not, friendly winds will soon again fill your sails and whisk you forth enroute to the next purchase. (I think guns have some sort of inherent magnetism, even the aluminum and plastic models. The more you amass, the greater the attraction.) Could be worse. Might have gotten into Beanie Babies. Enjoy your hobby!
