CZ P09!

It occurred to me that in my firearm collection I needed a large capacity 9mm!

I did some research and went to the gun shop and checked out the M&P, American, VP9, FNS, and then the CZ.

I was not even considering the CZ until I saw it in the cabinet and then held it. Normally I'm not a DA/SA guy but the way the CZ felt in my hand and the ability to swap out the decoder for the flip up safety that is included so I can run it cocked and loved like my SR1911 sold me. It feels and looks rugged and reliable. I went home did some research on it and then yesterday I but it on layaway! I can't wait to go get it!

19+1 of 9mm is nothing to sneeze at!

Any one have any experience with one?

Do you think I went wrong?

Terry ... The CZ is an excellent choice for the need specified. You'll get no second guessing from me and I predict it will become a regular (perhaps favorite) in your range bag. Congrats on your decision

I have one in 40 S&W, love it. Very accurate and has been reliable. Fits my hand well too.

Good choice. Actually, any of the listed pistols are a good choice. Better yet, you found the one you like. CZ makes some great firearms. Enjoy your new P09!

A very solid chioce in a sea of hi-cap pistols.

Whle some might think it a bit big for CCW, it can be done,
but excells as a home defense or range gun when you need
capacity and classic CZ reliability.

I've been impressed with the P-07 and P-09s that I've seen locally.

CZ makes some damn good stuff. We have 4 different 9mm pistol models. The one has 1500 + rounds fired, about 2500 total for the 4, and not a failure of any type in the bunch.

Well known for quality, accuracy and reliability.

Cz entered the P 09 into the military XM 17 test. I dont remember the exact numbers, but they passed with flying colors. The military said if they made the decocker into a safety/decocker, they would accept it as meeting specs.

CZ pulled their 50 pistols and stated they would not mess up a perfectly good pistol. I think CZ only went for show to see how they stacked up against the competition anyway. They already have so many military contracts worldwide they have trouble filling them. Which is ALOT of why CZ's are sometimes so hard to find in the US. MOST of what we see for sale is contract over runs.
The CZ P09 and SIG 320 dusted the rest pretty badly in the competition and were rated the top 2.

Its a good pistol. I think you made an excellent choice. You may have just bought the most accurate pistol you have ever owned.

I will bet you will own another CZ before the year is out.

FYI,, there is an old fella on you tube that makes videos shooting his P 09 out to 200 + yards. Pretty good watch, he is a pretty good shot for sure.

Edit to add. CZ hammer forged barrels are so tight, they recommend NOT shooting sub sonic ammo. But thats where the accuracy is.

Mine is also a .40 S&W. You are going to love the way it feels in the hand and how well it shoots.

If you are looking for range use and home protection, it is hard to beat the P-09. If you were thinking about using it for CC, then the P-07 works a little better.

For best accuracy, CZ 9mm barrels have a short leade before the bullet engages the rifling. Long bullets (especially 147gr and heavier hollowpoints) can contact the rifling if the COL is too long, either preventing the pistol from going into battery or running the potential for severe overpressure. Of all of the ammo I've tried in all of my CZ 9mms (and I have a good number of them since I demo for CZ), only the Freedom Munitions Supermatch 124 and 147gr have failed to properly chamber. 147gr FMJ and 147gr Winchester Ranger (cop HP ammo) are fine.
