Mint S&W 19-5

A friend of mine wanted a S&W MP15 and he offered me his mint 19-5 and a hipoint 995 9mm carbine in trade. So I went to my lgs and bought a MP15 for $695 otd and we made the swap. I don't think I did too bad.

I think the OP did well on the trade. That is a beautiful Model 19. Either he keeps his shoes in a safe, or he has a lot of guns in a closet!

I have many times traded rather than sell one gun and buy another.

A great trade, you basically got the Hi-Point for free!

Excuse me for trying to share a couple of pictures and get some opinions on whether or not I made a decent trade. People act soo simple minded sometimes. Just because a friend wanted a new gun but didn't want to spend any money and had 2 guns he was willing to part with, here comes the liberals OH MY GOD IT WAS A STRAW PURCHASE....gimme a break this trade was no different than had I already had a s&w mp15 in my possession and traded it to him...and for the ones that asked why didn't he just buy one himself, yea I suppose he could have went to the lgs and gave them the 19-5 and hipoint probably to the tune of around $400 trade value and would have had to pony up the other 300 but he didn't want to come out of pocket and I saw a opportunity to pick up a seldom seen mint condition smith for what I thought was a fair deal. And to he quite honest I don't feel like I should have to justify or explain anything here. I simply wanted to share some cool guns with what I thought was like minded people. I didn't realize this was the ATF forum

Couldn't you have given him the $695?

Anyway, loving the 19. Looks like it's been quite the safe queen; I hope you plan on shooting it.

Agree most of my gun acquisition's are in a swap/trade situation etc. BTW gotta luv those S&W F frames revolver's I have one myself. Hey guys back off I am siding with the OP!! He was excited & wanted to share his new gun with pics!!! It's crap or action's like this that's total nonsense!!!

I could have but he just moved here from Colorado and he really didn't want the wife knowing he was getting a new gun, we all know how that goes...plus I have a deal with my lgs where I pay cash and no tax. So I figured I'd just buy it and we'd swap...win win for both of us I think. Originally we were just going to trade the 19 for the ar, but when I brought it to him he threw in 2 boxes of 357 ammo, some hogues, a couple speed loaders AND the hipoint so I wasn't complaining. Yes I did shoot it Sunday, ran a few cylinders of 38 and 357 through it, shoots great.
