CZ P-09 It's a Keeper!

Usually I will not buy a handgun without firing it first but I was looking for a quality full size 9mm, that would not break the bank, to get started in competitions this year. I did my usual research (internet, dealers, etc.) and narrowed down to 4 possibilities. Although I could only handle the P-09 at one local dealer (no local range had one on the rental wall), I decided to go ahead with the purchase after not being impressed while handling and shooting the others.

Wow! What a great gun (at least for me). The first thing I did was try the 3 different included back straps. The Small was installed upon arrival and felt great but switched to Medium for a better purchase on the grip with my support hand. The Large was the least favorable for me. Next, I cleaned it before heading to the range. Takedown and cleaning was a breeze.

Besides the 3 back straps, it comes with two 19 round magazines, cleaning brush, slotted cleaning rod, lock, manual, test fire report and a manual safety that you can install instead of the decocker (nice option for carrying cocked and locked).

At the range, the gun was a pleasure to shoot. Very accurate from the first shot, ergonomically feels great in the hand, grip has almost perfect stippling, slide action is very smooth, nice 3 dot sights, minimal recoil which pushes back with negligible muzzle flip and it has the CZ Omega Trigger System. Sweet trigger when shooting single action. Long heavy smooth trigger in double action. The magazine well is slightly beveled and the magazine release is excellent. The guide rod is metal with a captured spring.

The only negative I could find, for me, was that the slide release was a little awkward to reach with your strong-hand thumb while holding the gun. However, the lever itself is nice and easy to operate.

If you are in the market for a nice full size 9mm then check it out. You can also get it with a threaded barrel and raised sights for a suppressor.

Other nice features:
19+1 Capacity
Large trigger guard for gloves
Flat front on trigger guard for resting against object if needed
Front and rear slide serrations
Slide rides within full length rails on frame
1913 Picatinny rail
Luminesent sights they will take a charge but are not Tritium
Steel trigger with a somewhat flat shape
Metal magazine release
Lanyard loop

I have one in 40 S&W, absolutely love it. Mine is extremely accurate and fits my smaller hands very well with the small backstrap. I highly recommend them!

Congrats on the new CZ. You will prolly catch the CZ bug now.

The CZ's are awesome IMO. I have 4 pistols, 2 rifles, & the wife has 1 pistol & 1 rifle. ( we got the CZ bug ) .
All our pistols are 75 series decockers.

The most accurate and dependable auto's Ive ever owned.
My EDC is a PCR , and well over 1500 rounds, no so much as a hickup.

I really like the #13 mainspring in my decockers. It really lightens the trigger up to about 3 lb. And talk about smooth. I dont think Id put a #13 spring in a 75 w/safety. I think it would be too light for a cocked and locked carry.

The TruGlo TFX sights really are a nice upgrade. They glo all night in total blackness, and give you a POA/POI 6 o clock hold @ 25 yards.

I wont be parting with any of our CZ's, pistols or rifles. ALL are tack drivers.
