I went to my gun shop today to look at the SR9. My dealer also had the Springfield XD 4". He disassembled the Glock, Springfield XD and SR9. The SR9 feels thin and light. The Springfield had a better feel on the grip. Which gun is the better direction?
I just bought a SR9 yesterday. Wow, what a shooter. I was checking out all of the 9mil's I came across and settled on the SR9. For me it was the best choice, I ran 100 rounds through it and was quite pleased. I have a steel target that I shoot pistols at. I lay it flat for the winter and just stood it up yesterday. It had slugs on the bottom side so slugs at 25ft. was the first test. Lets say that my steel target has slug particles on it. This SR9 runs well no probs at all, and I haven't even broke it in yet. But I'm pleased, and the price was just right. This is my first 9mil, I broke down and got one mostly because the ammo is cheap, half the price of 45. This is going to be a fun shooter and maybe even a carry gun. Just my opinion.

I also went with the SR9. Since I bought it, I've shot the XD, and happy I picked the one I did - your mileage may vary...the cool kit with the XD(m actually) was tempting, but the Ruger had me at hello. I've put almost 1000 rounds through it in the last 6 weeks, and they've all been perfect.
I had all the usual suspects lined up on the table before I purchased my SR9. The SR9 felt better in my hand, the controls were familiar, the field strip is easy, it points naturally, and I was satisfied with it's handling at the range (after buying of course).
I'm also trying to decide between a SR9 and XDM 9mm. The ruger is $140 cheaper around here, plus I like the saftey on the SR9. But since I don't have the money yet I'll have a bit more time to decide! Let us know what you get.
ive owned xd's for several years, and ill tell you what they are a very reliable shooter, ive owned 45's and 9mm both in different size's the 5in 4in and sub compacts 3in, all have been really good guns, ive never owned a sr9 , the sr9c is on my listto buy so maybe soon i can compare
