Colt is back in the revolver game.

I think they stopped making the King Cobra .357 back in the 1990s. The Anaconda .44 magnum held on for another few years to the mid-2000s but got to be a terribly expensive gun if you could even find them.

My early-90s King Cobra was a godawful piece of junk. The only endearing quality was the Colt brand name and that meant somebody coveted it as "collectible" so I flipped it for about a 300% profit.

I hope they do better this time.

I'm glad because the more revolvers from good manufactures the better. Even Kimber is in the game. (if you can afford it) But it's nice because Colt has a long history, the second oldest in America behind S&W and they where the ones who invented the swing out cylinder.
However, at this point very content with my new LCR.

Call me a pessimist, but here's what I see happening: People will stampede to buy them, which will push prices up while quality suffers as the factory rushes to push as many as possible out the door. I'll watch & wait.

It looks nice. I'm always happy when another company gets in the game... Even if it's a second or third time.

Since the machinery for revolver production was either discarded or sold, I wonder if they will farm out the production or at least a portion of it. Uberti is rumored to be the maker of the components of the SA Army. Anyone remember the Pietta Python of a couple of years ago that never reached production? There might be a way for a cash strapped Colt to get back into the revolver market without having to make a huge capital investment.

I'm thinking Colt at least has to assemble those Cobras here since the ad copy I've seen says "American Made".

A 25 oz 38 Spl that looks a lot like a Charter Arms product doesn't excite me. The Kimber revolver is a 6 shot 357 mag and that weighs in at 23 oz. That one is getting my attention a lot more but still the GP100 in 44 Spl is on the top of the list.

With an MSRP of $699 for a .38sp snubbie, I'll pass.

Original Cobras were 5-shot, weren't they?

My Dad had one when I was born and eventually traded it for his Savage Model 99. Not that he lost out on that deal (his Model 99 turned me on enough to get one of my own), but I wish he still had it.

No, the Cobra as well as the Dectective Special were 6 shot revolvers.

I here that terry, right now they have only released a special addiction and the price are all over the place and none cheaper than a $1000. With Gunbroker leading the charge last time I checked with the price gouging.

It's claim that Kimber is now in production for the more affordable addition but even that one will be street priced at over $700 dollars. Not sure if having an extra round over my LCR is worth another $200 dollars + especially with a gun that's not been proven yet. And Kimbers quality with their 1911's has slipped over the last few years.

But from what I could see I am impressed. It's just different enough but not so much that it loses that snubbie image, the Chiappa is just to radical for my taste even though it's suppose to shoot real easy because of that barrel placement.
