| SP101 vs GP100
Anyone have thoughts on which one makes a better carry gun? I looked up the specs for both of these and they both weigh the same for the 3" models, 27oz.

I believe the GP100 really weighs about 35 oz. with the 3" bbl. That's about a full 1/2 pound heavier than the 3" SP101!! The SP101 is much easier to "carry", but only five shots - I'll carry my SP101 thanks. Just my opinion.

The SP is going to be the easier ccw gun. It is much smaller than the 3" GP. (I like the Seecamp in my front pocket)

as big a gun as you can conceal and still be ok with the size and weight. Calibers above 357mag and 44 special might be overkill and go through the target too often, thus not too good for concealed carry.
I carry SR9. I am a 357mag guy but for now I think a revolver would be a little bit too bulky, especially with speedloaders. I would not consider anything else than speedloaders to reload a revolver. Also I dislike the small and light revolvers. It is all about trying both though I think. I have been carrying the SR9 but would like to know how it is to carry the GP100. In 4" please. My duty 6" would be obviously too big. I must note also that my 45oz loaded GP100 is more confortable in my duty holster than my 27oz SR9 concealed IWB. (just got the gun, for now I carry it without a holster and it is fine but I think a supertuck will make it way more comfortable to carry). The main problem is when I sit in my car, hurts my back a little. I would have to speak with people that carry 4" GPs and get their advice. But owning 2 GPs??

I have a rear pocket holster for mine with Chicago screws that make it convertable to a front pocket holster. It is a deep carry gun. Bob

I CCW both, or should I say all four. I carry the 2" SP10 ,the 3" sP 101, the gp100 3", and the gp100 4". Now I do have to dress around the various ones But a trip to the local good will store and you can buy sports coats or what ever type of covering you want for a very reasonable cost and you will be able to figure out what you need to "hide" your ccw. Weight does not bother me as I believe a good holster and belt make a all deferencefor weight.
Good Luck in your quest.

There both great my GP often goes to the range while the SP spends time as a carry gun/truck gun The GP eats mags like candy and is a blast to shoot. At the range with the sp 38's are easy and .357's are a scream i don't know wich one i like bettter.Great
revolvers can't go wrong with either gun. |

My 3" SP feels heavy after packing it around for a few hrs.
I think it depends on your holster and how many hrs you carry in a day.
It's easy to begin disliking a gun if it makes your body hurt.
