I know this is a Ruger Forum, but thought I'd reach out to get the opinion of the Ruger community...I have a SW1911 (108282) and was thinking of trading it towards a Ruger SR1911 Talo Night Watchman (or the standard variant). Anybody have experience with both and do you think its worth it?

Thanks!

I don't have a SW1911 but I do have the SR1911 and I will not get rid of it ... I never say never but I or my family would have to be in dire straights for me to part ways with it ...

I have both. Neither one is going any where any time soon. I've had probably 6-8 other 1911's pass through my hands over the years but the two I currently have are my favorites. I wouldn't sell/trade an SR1911 to get a 1911E or vice versa.

I would try and keep both. I have both. They are one the horizontal of a picture I took of four Commander size pistols I have that was almost politcally incorrect till I flipped one pistol over.

The S&W 1911 SC was made in 2004 and cost about $800 from a LGS. The SR1911CMD-NW was made in 2014 and cost about $800 from a LGS. One thing is you might see if the S&W has a mechanical firing pin safety. Look for a plunger in the slide. You should be able to see it by locking the slide back and turning the pistol over. My 2004 S&W has this and it something S&W did away with when the E Series came out. I have never had any problems with it but it is there.

Here is one S&W 1911 that I will never sell or trade off. That group on the target is 8 rounds at 25 yards from a Ransom rest. The custom smith that worked on that gun only fitted a Kart barrel and bushing to the gun. The slide to frame fit was perfect as it came from the factory. After many IDPA matches and practice sessions, not one failure so far.:)
