I saw the add in G&A and was curious about price and availability. Went on line last night and also had heart palpatations. Nice gun but jeez, a lot of expensive stuff out there right now.
I don't know what made my eyes bug out more....the great looks or the crazy price. I guess I'll just have to stick with my "el-cheapo" DAO SP101 until I win the lottery
"FREE Economy Shipping On Retail Orders $99+".....
Just based on looks - meh. Lots of visible screws on both sides of frame. Coated finish on carbon steel. Big black rubber Hogue (similar to GP100) grip - looks cheap. Not sure I like the skeletonized hammer - 1911-ish look.
If you can afford it is not over priced. Many people pay more than 100 k for a mercedes s class and if they can fford it go for it. i can afford others but I am a chevy guy.
While I don't spend that kind of money on a revolver myself there are plenty of people who can and I don't begrudge them their ability to do so. Expensive guns are luxury goods no different than a fine watch, a sports car, a nice boat, etc. A guy who drops $175,000 on a new H&H or Purdy shotgun would have no trouble forking over $3,500 for a revolver. But this one just falls short in the looks department. If I had that kind of money to blow on a 357 wheel gun (and I don't) I would buy a mint Python and get the best of all worlds - accuracy, action and drop dead gorgeous design, fit and finish.
Having seen actual Korth revolvers, I can say they are immaculate works of mechanical art. Just because everyone is content with the same old $500 boring common stuff does;t automatically discount the prier options. With that, I guess the G-class Benz's are just $3 screws too.
I'll gladly pay for some hand touches for finer fitting and finishing even though it's apparently not the norm.
