Doing a little experiment on a couple different boards. Pick the one you prefer. Concealed. Hiking. Home defense. Just all around.
3" model 65 .357 Magnum.
2 3/4" Speed Six .357 Magnum.

For all practical purposes, they are as close a match as I can get between a Ruger and a Smith. I'm curious to see how they rate in others eyes. Feel free to elaborate on your reasons for choosing one or the other.

It's just for entertainment, I appreciate everyone's input.

(65 is Shown with bobbed hammer, feel free make either one bobbed or full hammer)

I don't have a revolver S&W or a Ruger revolver,I hope to own both one day.I do own a Ruger 9E mm and a S&W & M&P 40 Shield.I hate choosing because I brought both.

The newest S&W I own is a 625-4 mountain gun made in about 1993. The oldest Ruger revolver is a GP 100 in 327 magnum that ain't that old.
As others have said, the triggers on old smiths are butter smooth.
My preference is for older Smiths and newer Rugers.

I might add
I like old whisky and younger women.

I like my Smiths. I like my Rugers. If I had to pick, it would be a smith.

I really, really want to like the LCR I got. Fires great, like the 9mm. But J-frame fits my Han better.

The Sp101 is fantastic, but my 66-1 has a smoother trigger.

Overall, my Rugers are great, and my smiths are great. I still have a lot of Smith revolvers I want, and still have some Ruger revolvers I want.

I just like revolvers.

I LOVE THEM ALL . Have a few Rugers hanging around and a brand new S&W 360J 38 spl and its a sweet little shooter and very comfy in every way so far just 50 rnds also the 1st S&W , its the wife,s and she loves it and she dearly loves to plink with a single six and had a big time with a Black Hawk 45LC.
My brother has a Colt 22LR that is a tack driver very nice to shoot don't remember the model police style except it has a 6" barrel, think it was 8-9 round cylinder.
Awfully partial to my Security Six 4" blue, been with me a long time since new , not really shot it very much(200-300 rounds tops) but every time I pick it up I remember why I bought it to begin with.

The first handgun I purchased was a S&W Model 65 with 3" barrel & round butt. I sold it in a moment of weakness (read as 'I was broke'). Anyhow, I 'd love to have it back but I've pretty much transitioned to Ruger revolvers at this point. And at today's prices, I think I'd probably choose to spend my funds on another Ruger.

I prefer S&W revolvers, at least the older models, the newest I own having been made in the early 90s and the oldest very close to 100 years old. Maybe they were better made or maybe they are just more well broken in. My wife's favorite, and my favorite Ruger is a GP-100 in 327 magnum, the more we shoot it the better it shoots, or the better we shoot it. I can't speak to the newer Smiths except to say I don't like the look of the Hillary hole.

I bought a new S&W Victory .22 with 5.5" Bull Barrel. I have a similar Ruger MK-III with 5.5" Bull Barrel but it is blued.

For a long time I've wanted a MK-III in stainless steel but they are priced about $200 more than the S&W.

S&W is getting a lot of press about their removable barrel but my old High-Standard Duramatic had that years ago.

Both the MK-III and the Victory are new and unfired yet so I plan to do comparisons after I build an indoor range in the barn.
