Favorite 9mm

My all time favorite 9mm is the Sig P228. I've owned the following over the years:

Ruger - SR9C & P95DC
Glock - 17, 26 & 43 (just got the 43 & have not fired it yet)
S&W - 5904, 6904 & M&P 9L CORE
Para Ordnance 1911
Springfield Armory - XD9S & XD9 Mod 2
Double Tap
Sig Sauer - 226, 228 & 229
H&K - USP9, P30L & VP9

The P228 just fits my hand perfectly. The Ruger PC9 is an awesome Carbine also. Don't hesitate to get one is the opportunity presents itself.

Just took my Ruger American Pistol (RAP) to the range today. I have shoot this pistol weekly since I bought it. This time beside shooting the gun myself, there were two others and the three of us were helping a fourth person who is a new shooter learn some Marksmanship skills. Between us we had 6 different guns. All were 9 9mm. There were two Glocks, 2 S&Ws, Colt 1911 and my RAP. We all started off firing one shot at a range of 15 yards. The drill was draw pistol; fire a single round and reholster. After firing two magazines, I let the new shooter try my RAP. By the end of the string, the new shooter was given the same opportunity. This new shooter had shot several times before and even had one match behind here. After a few rounds fired at a very slow pace, she started shooting at full speed. Her first four shots were a little off. With a short remedial. The rest of her shots were dead center. She loved the RAP and went on to try other pistols. By the time we finished, the RAP and M1911 her favorites.
After she finished., I fired two magazines (34 rounds) at a bullseye target 20 yards down range. I was doing well putting the rounds in the 9 or 10 ring.
The more I shoot my RAP, the more I like it.
It was great watching a new shooter getting better before my eyes. It was a memorable shoot.

Favorite shooting 9mm: CZ SP-01. Can be used to hammer tent stakes or Crack walnuts if empty.

Most inherently accurate 9mm I've ever owned: Springfield 1911 target in 9mm.

Most "I want to like it, but it just doesn't like me" 9mm: Beretta 92fs.

Technically I don't own any 9mm pistols any more, but I do have a Glock 22 with a conversion barrel that shoots as softly and accurately as my old SP-01 (with only a fraction of the weight) and I also have a Blackhawk convertible that has a .357/.38 cylinder as well as a 9mm cylinder.

I don't own many 9's, a couple of Glock 19's but my favorite at the moment is a Smith M&P compact 9mm. While not a fan of M&P's, this stray was sitting in a dealers showcase and came with 5 magazines but no box or accessories but looked almost new, in fact 3 of the mags looked like they were never inserted into the pistol. Price was right so I took it home. It went up to Lou Biondo of Business End Customs here in Massachusetts for trigger work and this is a keeper. And Smith gave me the 2 missing backstraps and a hard plastic box.

I have only shot one 9MM - a Baretta M9, but that still didn't do anything for me like a 1911 does.

Though I haven't shot a ton of 9mm's, my Glock 19 with a (-) connector is my current favorite. I also have a 1st generation Glock 17 which is great but somewhat dispensable since I have the 19. (Besides the value has increased on these 1st gen guns so I can turn a modest profit).

This thread is great though, as it presents many opinions on replacements for the 17 that I'm considering. (Ruger P-series, 3rd Gen S&W semiautos, CZ75)

The best I shot was owned by an NRA instructor, and was a Sig P226.
I now own a Ruger LC9sPro, because I can pocket-carry it, unlike the Sig.
I would have gone for a Sig sub-compact if it had as good a trigger as the LC9sPro, and was as inexpensive.
Luckily, I don't "need" a 9mm range gun (not yet).

Sig P938

The ONLY 9mm I own unless you count my Glock 27 with a 9mm barrel. I have only had this gun for a few weeks and it became my favorite compact pistol within less than 2 minutes of trigger time.

So far about 400 rounds shot, not one single failure of any kind. Groups about an inch for 8 shots at 10 yards right where I am aiming. 4 inches for 8 shots at 20 yards, standing, two hand hold, hits a bit low and a bit to the left at 20yds.
