Time for another spring upgrade in the EAA Witness Compact .45

Put a standard 17lb Wolff spring in this gun to replace the dual recoil spring debacle it came with... It solved all the misfeeds and I thought the problems were behind me

Now I see the slide has been slamming back and damaging itself and and frame (see pics)

guess I'll move on up to a 20lb spring (before the slide cracks or other catastrophic damage)

However... I already can barely pull the slide back because EAA doesn't have effective serrations on the slide (unlike my cz75 which has very effective serrations on basically the same style gun/frame)

With a 20lb spring I won't stand a chance of being able to cycle the slide by hand ;(

The thread is getting old, but curious as to how it all worked out for you. I have an EAA compact 10mm and had to use a 22lb Wolff recoil spring to reduce the FTF issues. I was having lots of FTF's with the factory dual springs, even with the weaker loads. I thought the 22lb weight would be too much for weaker loads, such as Armscor, and favor the full spec stuff, but turns out it runs both just fine. Still an occasional FTF, but way better than the factory setup. I'm going to try an find a slightly stiffer magazine spring to see if that's part of the problem.
