Alaskan Super Redhawk casull holster recommendations?

Hello everyone!

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a leather holster for my new mini-cannon? Have 1 ordered through Galco...but was informed i would be waiting 6-8 weeks for it...

Sorry for the brief intro and straight to the question...I'll post a better introduction tomorrow.....

Guess it depends on what you are looking for, I think you are looking at several weeks if you go with a custom maker, i.e. Simply Rugged or Mernickle. I had really good luck for my Alaskan with Mernickle. If you want something quick, you might check out places like Midway USA or Cabela's.

thanks for the response sir...I think I'm going to wait for the Galco holster to come in......didn't see anything else I liked.....patience will be the virtue here.....by the way what style of holster did you go with?

Just found 2 holsters on the shopRuger.com site.....and they had both in stock!! Alaskan holster by Galco and the Alaskan outfitters harness holster

I have a Alaskan and I ordered a pancake style holster from Simply Rugged. Rob did a great job on it and it fits it well. The only thing I was a little disappoint in. I assume he makes them for a 3 " barrel and there's a good half inch from the end of the barrel to the end of the holster. That really has no efect on it. Hey it protects the crown.
I haven't used it very much. I wouldn't hesitate getting another Simply Rugged holster.One other thing I just remembered. When I ordered it I wanted it to be a lined holster. When I received it, it was to tight. Rob warned me at the time he had never lined this particular holster before. It's been a couple years or so and he probably has perfected it by now.For my trouble he sent me a ammo case for 6 rounds of the Cassul round,fish scaled it to match the holster.

I have the Simply Rugged and the Galco. The Galco leather is thicker and well made and the Simply Rugged fits closer to my body and is well made. The thump break on the Galco needed lots of snapping to get it lose enough where I fell a fast draw could be made.The Simply Rugger does not need a thumb break.

Thanks for the replies guys...I ended up going w/ 2 different style holsters from the shopruger.com store....they had the Galco in stock and also the Alaskan outfitters harness holster.....picked up both just to have another option to carry my mini-cannon....

DarkBlade - Sorry about not replying sooner on the model of holster for my Alaskan. I went with the Mernickle FC 13. It is located in the field carry section. This was my one big hoorah! I really wanted the bear paw carving so I went for it. No question about the quality of the Simply Rugged holsters also.
