Scope Mounting on 10/22

I would like to know if anyone has mounted a Leupold VX 2-7x28 scope on a Ruger 10/22 with a .920 bull barrel using the Leupold one-piece mount with Leupold standard rings and if they can tell me what the lowest ring height that will clear is...

Also interested in the same info for the 3-9x33 EFR...

Also interested in the same info for both of the above scopes for the lowest DNZ one-piece billet ring/mount that will clear...

Thanks...

Still looking for feedback from people using the DNZ or Leupold one-piece mounts on a 10/22...

TIA...

I am not using a Leupold Scope, but here is my 3x9x40mm AIM on my 10/22. It works just fine and looks pretty good to me too. I am using the one-piece SS Weaver mount rail on the orignal screw mount holes in the receiver. I used some lock-tite to keep them in place before mounting the Scope to the gun.

Nice looking gun...thanks for the picture...

I have a similar size scope and height rings now...

I am wanting to get a 2-7x28 mounted as low as possible with a .920 barrel...

If anyone knows for a fact that the Leupold 10/22 base with super-low standard rings will clear that scope/barrel that would be great to know...

It is extremely hard to get accurate information on the dimensions of the various ring/base combos...when they do publish numbers the are not relative to the receiver and the base thickness vary...making it difficult to accurately predict the outcome if you haven't already used their products...

Contacting manufacturers and vendors seems to be a waste of effort at this point...I hate having to buy stuff to find out if it fits...

Oh well...life is hard...lol...

MidwayUSA's website has always provided a lot more dimensional info ring heights than anyone else, including the manufacturers. You might check them out.

That is very good advice...

I love midwayusa...my first choice for anything...

I am pretty sure now (thanks to 303) that the scope I want to use will fit with no problem on the super-low Leupold standard rings on the Leupold base but if someone has a picture of any scope/barrel mounted on a DNZ-low base and/or the Leupold base with standard rings (any height but especially the low and super low) that would be greatly appreciated...

TIA...

Ordered a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 with Leupold Rifleman Low Weaver-style cross-slot rings...

Leupold 1 Detachable Rifleman Rings Weaver-Style Low Matte

To mount to the Weaver TO-9 rail I already have and use for both scope and peep sight (not at same time...one or the other)...

Weaver 1-Piece Tip-Off Weaver-Style Scope Base Ruger 10/22 #TO-9 Gloss

These rings are the lowest that will mount a scope on that rail...bought them to get by for now...

Here is a pic of what I believe is the Leupold one-piece base for use with Leupold standard rings...I didn't get it because it puts the scope too far forward...

http://www.battenfeldtechnologies.co...8-action-1.jpg

I concluded that the DNZ low would not be low enough and would not be as low as the ring/base combo I will have...

While looking at other options I also ran across Talley...the ring-base bolts to receiver...but it is two piece in that the front and rear are separate...

Talley Lightweight 2-Piece Scope Mountstegral 1 Rings Ruger 10/22

Would have tried them but they are not low enough...

Probably going to make my own and make it so the bottom of the center of the scope barely clears the receiver itself...

I wound up buying the VX-1 2-7x28mm scope...

This scope objective is 1.4" O.D. and will clear the .920 bull barrel easily if the base of the center of the scope is resting directly on the receiver...

I currently have the Weaver TO-9 scope-ring/sight mounting rail...it is meant to stick out past the receiver in the front...which is too far forward for me so I mount reversed...to achieve this one of the four screws gets omitted...not ideal...can be corrected with drilling/tapping...haven't done it because I haven't settled on anything permanent yet...this rail has been on the gone and used with other scope/rings than I have now and it's what I mount my peep sight to...I have the ability to mount my scope as far back as I like it...which is way farther back than most people...

This is the rail...

Weaver 1-Piece Tip-Off Weaver-Style Scope Base Ruger 10/22 #TO-9M

Currently using these rings...

Leupold 1 Detachable Rifleman Rings Weaver-Style Low Matte

I like these rings a lot so far...I would like them more if they were available in super-low...

The gross windage of this gun/rail/ring combination is usable but not centered and I would like to get it centered...

The Leupold standard "Redfield-style" base with gross windage for this gun I linked to above with super-low rings would be nice but the placement is way too far forward...

Millet makes rings that would mount on the TO-9 rail that are windage adjustable...however, the lowest they have is .15" higher than what I have now which is BARELY low enough...

Weaver makes rings for that rail that are .03 lower than the ones I have but that is a long ways from as low as I would like and I don't like that style ring nearly as much as the Leupold Rifleman rings I have now...and they are still not windage adjustable...

The DNZ style mount in super-super low and as far back as possible would be ideal but still wouldn't allow gross windage adjustment...regardless of how well those ring/mount billet pieces are made the lowest ones are way too high and it is not possible for them to take into account barrel/receiver alignment...which is where I am convinced the gross windage error occurs...

If anyone knows of a way to get the scope down lower, farther back, and have gross windage adjustment please let me know...

Thank you,
ZG
