| Recommended Scope for Ruger Scout rifle
I just picked up a Ruger Scout rifle. I want to get a scope for it and I am interested on hearing your thoughts. I know it depends on how far you intend to shoot, I think at least 200 yards for varmint elimination.

I've got a 2.75 Burris Long Eye Relief scope mounted forward of the breach on my Ruger Scout. I really like it for the shooting I do, which is usually close in 50-100 yards typically, but I would not recommend it for 200yards, thinking 120 max.
Lots of good scopes out there, get a variable power 3-9 at least or even up to a 12 power if you can afford a good one.

| Scope on the ruger scout rifle :
Have`nt got a Ruger Scout myself, but some years ago I got a Mauser that was made into a scout rifle. Used a Leupold pistol scope on it.

Take a look at the Leatherwood Hi Lux LER2x7. This scope has several positive reviews, one from a Shotgun News article, and from M1a Scout shooters. Check YouTube. Can be had for around $130.00 from Midway. I just ordered for my M1a Scout.

I have a Leupold FX-II Scout IER 2.5x28mm on my scout rifle and I love it.
It's not a Ruger scout rifle though. I went with a 30-30 lever rifle as my scout setup in my defense because Ruger hadn't come out with their scout rifle yet.
Anyway, for field use, I can't imagine using more than 3x power but I'm not a varmint shooter (although a 2-7 might be real nice to have).
I like the way my rig puts the scope perfectly centered when I shoulder the rifle and the fact I use it with both eyes open for really fast sighting (the whole point of a scout scope). Sits nice and low, too, using QR rings!
As I've said before, it's like having the perfect "optical iron sight replacement". 2012-05-27_12-20-40_114.jpg
