Nikon P-223 3x32 on Mini 14 Tactical

Does anyone have any experience mounting the Nikon P-223 3x32 using the proprietary Ruger rings? This scope is only 8.1 in. long, without much room for mounting.

Thanks for any help.

It's a great scope, I have one on an AR. Sorry it won't fit on your Mini though, not with ruger rings. The spacing is not correct, so you would have to get a weaver rail.

Thanks for the reply, was kinda' thinking that would be my course of action. Looks like Weigand makes one that will adapt from the Ruger mount to the Weaver type mount.

You could do that, or you might look into a 1-4x20 that has a 1" front end. Nikon and Leupold both make an AR Version and both run around $275.
Nikon 1-4x20 M-223 Matte Point Blank Reticle Riflescope FREE S&H 8485, NI-RS-8485-KIT. Nikon M-223 Rifle Scopes, Nikon Rifle Scopes.
The p-223 is a cute little scope but if it's a pain to accomodate... The leupold is a little cheaper but doesn't have target turrets. That could either be a pro or a con for you.

Nikon p-223 + Weigand rail = $200 approx, just mentioning another option.

Benji
Thanks for the information, since the 3x32 is due to be delivered Friday I just now ordered the Weigand mount w/rings. Guess I'm committed now.I do like the turrent adj. feature on the p-223. You're right , not alot of mounting choices with this scope.
Thanks again for info.

Cool, I think you'll like it. I'm happy with mine so far, and my other Nikon for that matter. Good scopes for the money.

Nikon P-223 3x32 scope on Mini-14 Tactical!

Just came across this article posted in May on the Nikon P-223 3x32 scope on the Mini-14. I just put this scope on my Mini-14 Tactical with no problem. I used the GG&G tactical rail made especially for the newer 580 series Minis. Cost me $48.00, free shipping from Opticsplanet. I used the P-Series mounts and they mounted just perfectly. Use the Blackhawk Tactical cheek-Pad and it really fits comfortable! There are cheaper rails for the mini out there, but you get what you pay for. The GG&G rail is made to military specks and is sold to both law enforcement and US military. Used locktite on the mounting and after 200 plus rounds scope is still zeroed in, nice and tight!

The P-223 scope is one hell of unit if anybody is interested. Crystal clear, easy to adjust with the tactical knobs, and the BDC is a real plus. I shot groups of three in the 1/2 to 1/4 inch range today at 100 yds. rested only on a bean bag.

This is my first message as a new member, hope this was a help!

Does the Mini 14 Tactical have the same scope mounts / ring setup as the Mini 14 Ranch Rifle has? At one time I was considering the Nikon P233 3 power scope for my Ranch Rifle, I had a Ranch Rifle at a local gunshop & put the Nikon P223 3x32 scope next to the Mini14 Ranch Rifle's receiver it looked like to me that the Nikon P223 3x32 scope would work. True not much room to move the scope forward or back but it did look like it would work. I did go to another scope a Burris mini 2-7x 28 it fits great, but now I have thoughts of putting the Burris on my .22 rifle & get the Nikon P223 3 power scope. Because I like the BDC & the turrets on this scope.

Mini-14 tactical with 16.5 inch barrel has the same scope mount system as the ranch rifle. The only differance is the stock options and barrel length. All Mini-14's with a ser# beginning with 580 have the same forged mount system on the receiver. I will be posting some pics of my Mini with the GG&G rail and the P-223 3x32 scope. I was going to get the 3-9x40 but decided it was kind of overkill for what I use it for. The fixed 3x32 is perfect for anything 25 to 200 yds.

P-223 and Mini 14

Hi, just found this thread. And just received my P-223 3-9x40 today. Looks like this will work/mount just fine with the Ruger rings. My concern is with shells ejecting, and possibly hitting the windage/elevation knob. Any issues?

I'm a newbie to the site and I'm guessing by the age of the thread that you've already found a solution but I was able to mount a Nikon P-223 3x32 on my Mini-14 tactical using the Ruger rings (extra-high) that came with my rifle; however, even with the extra high rings, I needed to remove the top rail from the rifle.

I've had pretty good luck taking the scope off and putting it back on without drastic sighting adjustment.

Probably too late but thought I'd chine in - maybe an option for others down the road.

Hi ! Just wanted to see if you are having problem with ejected casing hitting the turret ? I just mounted p223 3-9x40 on my 582 with fixed stock using high Ruger rings ( came with rifle) and it sits at the right height but, casings are hitting the turret.... any ideas what to do next ?
