It is my understanding that the later Mark IIs are tapped for a Weaver rail that mounts in front of the rear sight -- the way that the Mark IIIs are. If yours has three screws located there, that is where you can mount a Weaver rail. You can then mount a red dot sight on it. Aimpoint, Eotech, and Ultradot amoung others make excellent red dot sights for mounting on the Mark pistol. I have an Aimpoint mounted on my Mark III and I love it.

The previous poster was referring, I believe, to a Fiber Optic sight. These are also available for the Mark II/III and are easy to install.

I don't know about your MkII, but my MkIII 22/45 was tapped for a scope mount that came with the gun when new. The existing sights did not have to be removed. I just installed the mounting rail, then put on a cheap Tasco red dot sight. It works very well. Only issue is having to check periodically for loosened mounting screws. Probably blue LocTite would solve that issue and still allow removal of the rail if desired. With my eyesight the red dot is a great addition!

Enjoy your MkII!

You might consider a laser as an alternative to a red dot sight if your Mark II is not tapped. That is what I did with my Mark II and I love the combination of the Crimson Trace lasergrip and the Mark II! Lasers are a very good alternative for a red-dot, especially for pistols.

If you are set on a red-dot, here is my review on Amazon.com of the excellent Ultradot Matchdot:

Thanks to all !!!!!!

I bought a b-square mount#42877 and a barska ac 10650 red/green dot scope from my local gun shop after i asked him to help me and that is what he came up with. The mount slides on and tightens with screws;no drilling and tapping !!!! Now i will go to the range and set it up!!!!
