M-77 scope rings (yes i'm new to Ruger)

I have a M-77 in 7MM Mag.
When I got it ,it had a 40mm obj. scope on it. Well I have a Vortex laying around (new) with a 44mm obj.. needs to be raised. I've had rifles for 51 yrs. and this set up is different than anything I've had with one ring higher than the other.
What I'd like to know is what rings I need to order. They need to be at least a 1/4" higher to miss the barrel. The ones on it measure approx. 1/2-----3/8.
Are there different numbers to order ? Thanks

Yes,I know their at Brownells and ebay , but there are so many different ones.
Some equal in height and some that are not. Brownell doesn't look like sets so I'm not sure what to order. Ebay has them as sets but then again not sure which ones . Their expensive so I don't want to make a mistake. Bare with me I'm new to Ruger

It is truly difficult to give good advice on this topic as there are so many variations and choices for rings. I generally stay with the ones provided by the manufacturer if my scope will fit in them. Otherwise, I do contact the manufacturer, almost always Ruger in my case, and get different rings from them. It just seems to work better and easier for me. I've been shooting for 59 years so I am now back into just making it the less stressful as possible. Calling Ruger for help is good advice.

It's NOT difficult, it's very easy. You have rings on the rifle now. Measure them and see what the height difference is. Add the extra needed height for the new scope, to the height of current rings and wala..........you have what you need to order
