I have a brand new 22/45 lite. Havent even fired it yet. I bought a magazine disconnect bushing to put in it before i start shooting it. I proceeded to install it when i got to the point where i partially remove the sear pivot pin. The problem is it wont budge at all. I hammered away on it with a brass punch and hammer and it just wont budge. I need some help any suggestions??
i had somebody tell me it could be a bent pin and i just need to order a new one which is fine, i still dont know how to go about getting the old one out. Any advice at all helps. Thanks!
I'm a little confused as to why one would remove the sear pivot pin to replace the hammer bushing. The only pin that needs to be removed is the hammer pivot pin for replacing the hammer bushing to accomplish the elimination of the mag safety. The hammer pivot pin and the sear pivot pin are locked into the frame by the long leg of the 22/45 sear spring. You can follow my 22/45 detailed stripping page for instructions on how to remove these pins. 2245 Maintenance Page
Your hammer pivot pin is locked in place by the long leg of the sear spring. You have to remove the receiver, mainspring housing, and the grip panels if you have an "RP" model. Then follow this picture to remove the hammer pivot pin.
This will allow you to slide out the hammer pivot pin but don't completely slide it out of the frame or the thumb safety will come out of the frame. Just slide it to the left far enough to allow the hammer, mag safety hook, and spring to rotate upward on the disconnector lever.
Bullseye is awesome!! Ruger should be paying him a HUGE royalty.
