I am trying to figure out which one I want to get. I already have an LC9 and wanted to get something with more capacity as well as more accurate for plinking. So I was thinking of going with the regular SR9 and the LC9 would fill the role of compact. After looking at the SR9c I really like it but was wondering how accurate they are compared to the SR9?
Thx,
Bob
Both guns are more accurate then the person using them, I would suggest the SR9c but that is just because I have one! Whaterver you choose, you will need to work on your trigger finger, that is where most people lose there accuracy. Very simple to say, not so simple to master!!
Forum member Raminator has both and I seem to remember that he says both are virtually identical in accuracy.
Conceal carry on the SR9c is way better. I use a kholster IWBand it just disapears under a shirt.
Capacity is the same because they both use the same 17 round SR9c magazines. The 10 round mag for the SR9c doesn't use the long floor plates so it conceals very well. The SR9c has an improved trigger.
Since I already have the LC9 I thought I'd probably keep it since it's gonna be a little smaller. The trigger on the LC9 is horrible though for just shooting.
I just purchased a SR9C and love it! It is very accurate and is actually hard to miss with IMHO! I have not carried it concealed yet, but I know it will work well. Someone mentioned Glock above...I can shoot the SR9C better than my Glock 26 also.
I have an SR9, and I recently shot an SR9c. I actually thought I did better with the SR9c than I did my own SR9! I was very impressed! I wasn't sure how I would like the way it fits in my hand, since I have larger hands and the handle doesn't extend all the way down my palm, but honestly, once I was pulling the trigger I didn't even notice it's size anymore. I shot the compact back to back with the LC9,(since the girlfriend was interested in something slightly smaller and more powerful than her Walther PK380) and honestly, while the LC9's size, power, and features are impressive, I would never shoot it for fun like I would any other the other guns that I've shot.
After my experience, I will buy an SR9c, and then upgrade my SR9 to an SR40.
I tried all kinds of different guns for ccw and I now have the SR9C and love it
I shoot it all the time just for the fun of it and it is very accurate.
Both the SR9 and the SR9c shoot exactly the same... well for me at least. I have the older fullsize SR9 that I upgraded with the Ghost Ultimate trigger reset and polished internals. The SR9c is bone stock with no polishing or upgrades.
If you are interested in concealed carry for this gun, consider the SR9c above the SR9. If you are interested in a range gun, then consider the fullsize SR9 above the SR9c.
The shorter barrel and sight radius do not seem to affect me, as the shooter, for the SR9c. The shorter grip can be fitted with Ruger's finger extension as well as the grip sleeve for the fullsize 17rd magazines (unless you live in a Commie state that doesn't allow you to have them).
For concealed carry, I've found the fingertip extension does not protrude out enough to print. Your carry rig will determine how your gun carries more than the gun itself. For my 17rd reload, I left the grip sleeve in the box of spare parts. I never use it for concealed carry and only use it at the range, when I want more ammo capacity. Then again, my fullsize SR9 seems to get more range time than the SR9c because I almost always forget I'm carrying it and it never leaves the holster.
I can't speak about the accuracy comparison, but I will say that I have a sr9c and have shot about 300 +/- rounds of nothing but crap ammo (tulammo, CCI aluminum, Wolf). I haven't had a failure of ANY kind. I love this gun.
We have both and we consider the SR9 mine and the SR9c my wife's. There's not much difference between them for accuracy, but I like the way the SR9 handles for me, but then I shoot it more. My wife likes the less weight of the SR9c and it was going to be her conceal gun when we get our CHl's, but she did have uper strength trouble with racheting the slide back, but now seems to be doing better. I think she's just gotten more comfortable handling a firearm and has become more assertive and less afraid of how much effort and control she really needs as she never grew up with weapons of any sort and has just started shooting @ the range with me after 30+ yrs. of marriage. She likes it for soemthing we do togheter, doesn'tt ake much time, gets us outdoors and a little more active. We ended up getting the.38 LCR for her conceal weapon eventually as it will require less thought about use if ever needed in a stresful situation, but by continuing to practivce and gaining the comfortabilty with herown weapons, who knows what she'll decide.
I guees I'm just saying overall get what you waht for what you need and prperly practice so that it's second nature.
