My SR1911 had a blue dot with an ink spot in the middle in front of the slide lock lever...I have seen other photos of pink and yellow dots. What are these dots for and what do they mean (if anything?)
My SR1911 had a pink dot and my CMD had a red one. Mine seem to function ok with those colored dots on them... But they are gone now didn't want to ugly up my guns with stickers
mine had a red one good thing it said made in usa or else might of thought it was made in Russia not that is a bad thing just prefer something from usa
Be careful of the NSA watching. Those dots are like the warning labels on mattresses. If they are removed, big brother will know, and you'll spend the rest of your life doing hard labor in prison

The dots are simply something put there so ppl will wonder why they're there, disregard actually searching for the answer and just ask the same question many others before them have.
Colt used to stamp their inspector's logo on the frame of their WWII pistols, Ruger uses a removable dot. Which begs the question - Since a WWII Colt with an uncommon inspector's stamp is potentially worth more, will a Ruger with an uncommon dot color be worth more in the future?
Remember, during the war nobody cared whose stamp was on what pistol, it wasn't until these pistols became collectible that the stamp meant anything.
Sorry guys but you know how dependable forum search features are! I just wasn't sure why there were different colors most being yellow where as mine was blue. Thought maybe the colors had something to do with barrel/bushing matching or test fire accuracy?? Who knows...that's why I asked.
p95: pinkish red sticker.
it was not very official looking so I figured it might have indicated which salesperson so they got commission, or store indicator that yes it was sold, so I could get right into the range with it.
I had the coveted purple dot on my MKIII 22/45. I took a picture of it then removed it and put it in a hermetically sealed container. It now sits on Funk and Wagnell's porch.
