SR45 Issues

Just bought a SR45 over the Labor Day Weekend. Usually I do the research then buy. This time, since I have a GP100 and am loyal to Ruger I bought then came here to the forum. I dont like what I am reading about the SR45 with misfires and parts breaking. I need some reassurance I didnt make a mistake. I havent fired a round through it, but am having second thoughts. Maybe should have went with the 1911. Anybody have any advice or reassurance I didnt make a $700 mistake!!!

Disappointed

First off....Welcome to the forum! Don't be disappointed in the SR45 Before you even test fire it. Chances are yours will be just fine. Most times on forums you will see mostly negative posts since folks with no problems seem to post less. Give it a good cleaning and make sure to take out the striker and clean the channel real good. Take it to the range and shoot some rounds through her. Let us know how it goes. I'm betting you'll have a great time with no problems.

Agree with the above information. A good cleaning including the striker will make
For a much better day at the range. You made a fine purchase.

I've had one light strike issue. Since then I've re-cleaned & lubed the gun but haven't had a chance to shoot it again. There was a lot of gunk in it from the factory. I'm not giving up on it because I really liked the way it felt and shot. If the light strike happens again, I'll contact Ruger customer service and go from there. Remember you are going to read more complaints than positives. I do think that $700 sounds high though.

Welcome to to the Forum from Georgia!

Congrats on your new SR45 I'm interested in a SR45c "when" it comes out...

I have a SR1911 and it's a great gun...I don't have an SR45 but I've read lots of GOOD things about it.

Give yours a good prepping before the range debut and go and shoot the fool out of it!

Then come back and tells us how your "first dance" went! Happy shooting...

Welcome from AZ.
As with any new gun, clean thoroughly and lube lightly then run it and see what it does. Ruger will stand behind their product.

Welcome from Texas!
As with anything man made, there are good ones and there are not so good ones.
And as with anything owned by man, you always hear about the bad, but seldom about the good.

Odds are, you have a good one, but let us know either way.
