Welcome from another cheesehead. The 40 is a good caliber and still relatively cheap, so not to worry. Enjoy your new Ruger.

I have two .40 cal handguns and two 9mm pistols. Yes 9mm is cheaper but I like having the variety.

Check out Palmetto State Armory. They usually have the best prices on average of any place I've seen and their service is excellent. You're not going to buy .40 for the same price as 9mm, but every little bit helps. And when it comes to SD/HD, I'd rather have the extra assurance the .40 provides.
You made an excellent choice in the SR40c. It's one of my favorites (I keep saying that, but all my keepers are my favorites!) IMO, it's the best shooting, most reliable .40 on the market. But if you ever want to sell it, I doubt you'll have a hard time. It's already got a great reputation in the short time it's been out.

welcome from nevada! enjoy the forum and your ruger(s)! if you're in the market for, say, another ruger in addition to your 40, why not consider a mark lll or an sr22? not too pricey and ridiculously cheap ammo, and tons of fun.

Is there any way or changing the barrel on the sr40c to a 9mm barrel like the m&p.

Also I don't know what's involved. The outside of the slide is somewhat thicker that the SR9c. But it's the inside dimensions that matter.
I've got both. I might try putting my SR9c barrel in my SR40c. But I doubt it will fit without some sort of modification. Possibly the whole slide might work on the other frame. Dunno. Good question! |
