Welcome from Amish Country in South Central PA. Back in the day, I had a 1878 F150 4x4...not a bad truck, but got rid of it because of the 2nd Arab oil embargo in the late 70s. Fuel was hard to come by. I bought a 1981 Toyota Hi-Lux 4x4 pick-up that had a grand total of about 86 horsepower. I had it 12 years and rolled up over 250000 miles on it without a breakdown. Then I bought a new 93 F-350 diesel 4x4, but it was a Monday morning truck...it was in the shop more than it was on the road...13 times in the shop for breakdowns in one year. I dumped it when the warranty expired traded it in for a new 96 Tacoma 4x4 xtra cab. I just sold it a year ago because my knee went bad and clutching became murder for me. Had to get an automatic. I've had better luck with guns than I had with trucks.....

i would check out the sr40 before making your purchase. that extra millimeter goes along way in stopping whatever you intend to destroy. it may hold two less rounds but if you need 15 shots to hit something youre better off running. it will have a little bit of extra recoil, but range time will help you overcome that.

it's all basiclly in the wrist of the shooter as to the caliber you shoot weaker wrists stick with .22 or .380 stronger go higher caliber i just prefer the P95 because i think it has much less recoil then the .380 and with hollow points it can and will get the job done.

Welcome to the shooting sports. Acquire and faithfully use eye and hearing protection. You have already received some excellent advice. Seek out friends who have some experience in shooting the type of firearms you are going to be shooting; rifle, shotgun and/or pistol. Offer to pay for ammo so you can shoot their guns with them. Perhaps there are gun clubs or state associations or National Rifle Association instructors/members in your area than can teach you the proper basics of shooting. Youtube videos have some value but nothing beats hands on experience.
Try different types of handguns, revolvers and semi autos require different shooting techniques but the basics of sight alignment, sight picture and trigger squeeze are the same. Different makes and models will feel different in your hand. Revolvers with aftermarket grips have more variation in how they feel in your hand. Different grips can make it seem like a different gun. Read the forums. You will see friendly, ok, ok, civil differences of opinion on a wide variety of topics.
You're going to like it here.
