Welcome Stampy. I know you've had a load of "howdys" aready, but with several good Kiwi friends and several Kiwi colleagues and an old college buddy from University of Colorado who is a professor of Spanish down in Christ Church, I wanted to get my welcome in too! 
Oh, and when my dad was 18 and in the US Air Force, he was in Christ Church for about 9 months or so. He was a dumb kid, he says, and he hardly ever left the base, which he really regrets. 
Someday I'm coming down your way and hoping to enjoy some of your great trout fishing and hunting. Still saving my pennies for the trip, though.  | |

Thanks again everyone for a most warm welcome, It's quite warming knowing a few of you have had ties to our little country down at the bottom of the world You'll love the Trout fishing Tom, plenty of lakes and streams to choose from, Hunting's ok too!

I've been to NZ twice...first time in 1988 touring the islands for 2 weeks as a college student and the second time in 1998 as an Athletic Trainer (Physio) with USA Rugby's U-19's Summer Tour!
What a beautiful country you have down there! The wife and I have discussed moving there on more than one occasion!
