| Forum newbie from VT, how my Ruger came into my life
I've always loved shooting targets, learning to shoot with my dad's 22 when I was a youngin'. It took about 20 years for me to finally buy my first gun, a Ruger 10/22 carbine. One day last year, after spending a few hours watching my boyfriend, his brother-in-law and the in-law's friend plink at some targets, the opportunity came up to buy the 10/22 which was based on the prototype of the SR556. When we got back to the house, all my bf could talk about was this barely-used gun, how much he wanted it, and how he wished he brought the money for it. Leave it to a chick to blurt out, "If he'll take a check, I'll buy it!", even though I didn't even see it. (It was one of those gut-feelings that I should go for it). The deal was a go so that same night we returned to the seller, I held her, fell in love, wrote out a check, we did some paper work, and I became the proud owner of "The Home Wrecker" . After years of shooting his guns, I finally had my own to shoot, clean, and fall in love with. I've had her for a year and she's still the best gun I've ever fired.
I don't know why it took me this long to join the forum, but glad I finally did! Looking forward to getting some tips and swapping some stories!

Welcome from Michigan! I've tried to get my GF into shooting. She has fun while we're out, but that's it.
